PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - South Dakotans would be allowed to keep guns locked in their private vehicles at work if a House bill is passed and signed into law.The House Judiciary Committee on Monday voted to send the bill to the House floor.
The bill, which has support from the National Rifle Association, would give an employee the right to store firearms and ammunition in a locked vehicle parked on work property.

Not that it will change much in my routine but at least I will be legal next pheasant season!

Cool!
Wish they'd do that here in MI, but I figure what they can't see they don't know.
On a side note, I'd like to go back to SD for a pheasant hunt...

When I was there, there were so many stinking pheasants (November 200up around Huron. I think we were actually closer to Carpenter, but stayed in Huron. 10 acre field we hunted probably had 500 birds in it. Never seen anything like it.

Every year the numbers kept getting larger but the winter of 2010-2011 killed off a ton of birds. The hardest thing about hunting in 2010 was getting a mile out of city limitsLuckily I'm a Vikings fan so I have the patients to last through a rebuilding year.

Lions fan here... and that pretty much describes our pheasant hunting in MI. The only way to get birds is to plant them, go to a preserve, or, in my case, hunt the state game area next to the preserve to try and get one... no luck.
When I started hunting them 10 or 11 years ago, they were relatively easy to find, but the past 5 years we haven't been able to find a wild bird. I think it was 4 years ago we only saw one rooster and I did get it. Didn't know that would be the only one we would see that year. I've now taken up Ruff Grouse hunting as I'm in an area that has okay habitat and I had quite good luck being by myself, averaging a couple flushes per hour (which, is kind of poor after hearing my dad and uncle talk about how it used to be when they were my age 60 miles south of my current location-which is nearly impossible to find a grouse now).
At least we have a decent number of geese and ducks, but it just isn't the same as pheasant hunting.
