If he had imagined a bale of weed or huge vat of cocaine or maybe being a gangster the school would be praising his creativity. As Don King used to say "only in America". Good becomes bad and bad becomes good before our very eyes.

Shannon Watts - Thy Name Is Hypocrite

Full story : Shannon Watts - Thy Name Is Hypocrite - Chicks on the Right

    Emphasis mine:

Shannon's a "stay-at-home mom" on the north side of town here in Indianapolis who started her group after the Newtown shooting. Before she was a stay-at-home mom, though, she was a high-powered PR exec who knew a thing or two about manipulating media. So that's kinda convenient for her in her new little gig, to say the least.
Shannon knows public relations. She knows what works with emotional mothers. She claims to be altruistic in her efforts, but she knows exactly what she's doing. She's a pro. And she's preying on the emotions of women. You see, when Shannon says crap like "Moms are afraid our children will be taken away and in the end, I think that's what will win the debate," it's pretty obvious to women like me how chicks like her tick. People like Shannon - and her new BFF and backer Bloomberg - believe that guns are the problem....not people. Which is why gun control activists are beyond rational thought and discussion in this debate. They tie emotion to inanimate objects. And then they USE that emotion to manipulate people in the debate.

Mental health changes to NICS approved in 2008, but funds never appropriated.

Considering the recent crusade for gun control in the name of mental health, it's curious that funds allocated to add mental health expansion for NICS in 2008 was never appropriated. Maybe the other side just didn't want to credit the NRA?

It's reminiscent of the way the left completely ignored an existing program (signed into law by Clinton) to put armed officers in schools in the wake of the Newtown tragedy, seemingly because the NRA was suggesting the very same thing at the time.

It's more and more obvious that politicians are playing fast and loose with your childrens' lives in the name of ideology.

NRA Supported Sharing Mental Health Data with NICS, Funds Not Appropriated

In January 2008, George W. Bush signed an NRA-supported bill into law to improve and increase incentives for states to share mental health data with the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). The money for the improvements was spread out over five years, and only a fraction of it has been appropriated.

    With friends like these..

What do they say? With friends like these, you don't need enemies. If this guy is the best New York Republicans have to vote for..brrrr..scary.

I'm curious, since the stabber/shooter obtained his guns (and knife) legally and police thought he was a "wonderful human" when alerted to his plans on YouTube, how does Rep. King intend to back up the assertion that universal/expanded background checks would stop these kinds of crimes?

From : GOP?s Rep. King calls for more background checks in wake of Calif. killings

    Emphasis mine:

Rep. Peter T. King (R-N.Y.) said Sunday that Friday’s deadly rampage near the University of California at Santa Barbara underscores why expanded background checks for firearm sales are needed and said he hopes to pursue legislation to enhance mental health screening.
