Unwilling To Abide Stupid Texas Gun Laws, Hero Kills 2 of 4 Armed Robbers - Bearing Arms

Just after closing around 2:30 Saturday morning, four armed men barged in at EJ’s Place demanding money.
Instead, a customer inside the bar, which is located on the 16500 block of Kuykendahl Road, pulled out his gun and started exchanging fire with the robbers. He shot and killed two of them while the other two ran. Once the heated exchange ended, the patron left, too.

Most folks driving by EJ’s Place Saturday afternoon thought the patron there was in the right.
“He has his right to protect himself and his family and his friends,” said Charles Webb. “It’s just unfortunate something like that happened.”
Another neighbor, Danielle Russell, added, “Being a mom, yeah, I would feel safe knowing that he has a gun and he’s going to protect me in a robbery.”
But a sign in the bar window clearly states it’s a felony to carry a gun inside. Under Texas law, even licensed carriers can’t have guns in bars. That could explain why the patron left.

Bloomberg Gun Control Group's Endorsements Packed with Incumbents

Michael Bloomberg's Everytown for Gun Safety endorsed several candidates for federal office to make Congress more gun-control-friendly in the November 2014 elections, most of whom are incumbents.

Of the 78 the group endorsed, 68 are incumbents, who offer no change whatsoever.

Anyone here in Alabama? I thought this article was very interesting. I like the way the their right to bear arms amendment is very simple and plainly writen. I would have to question the motives anyone that would want to change it to the "strict scrutiny" version. I am not from Alabama obviously, but i like seeing how other states do it in case i need to make an informed descision about where i live.

Alabama Statewide Amendment 3 could be a slippery slope - Montgomery Conservative | Examiner.com

Tyrants and lawbreakers both realize that the rights of the law abiding are obstacles and road blocks to their goals and aims. There isn't a subterfuge too low that they won't commit to eradicate these rights. They are not below manipulating Joe and Jill Citizen into voting themselves into shackles.
If we are not alert and ever vigilant vague, misguided, or purposefully draconian laws could suffocate our freedom to death. We must weed out the parasitical and positivist decrees and regulations that threaten the jewel of our liberty.
This is where the possible danger lies in Novembers Alabama Statewide Amendment 3. It is a change to the Alabama's Constitution that at a quick reading sounds like blue skies and puppy dogs. This legislation could have adverse effects upon future generations of Alabama gun owners.
The Second Amendment is clear that the right to keep and bear arms is not to be infringed upon ( this means violated, encroached upon, or transgressed). Section 26 of Alabama Declaration of Rights is even clearer. It simply reads:
"That every citizen has a right to bear arms in defense of himself and the state."
How much clearer can one be? Why does this need to be amended? It plainly states that every Alabamian has a right to bear arms cut and dried. No mention of tolerating restriction is mentioned.
    Statewide Amendment 3 reads:
"Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, to provide that every citizen has a fundamental right to bear arms and that any restrictions on this right would be subject to strict scrutiny and to provide that no international treaty or law shall prohibit, limit, or otherwise interfere with a citizen's fundamental right toi bear arms."

How a '50s-Era New York Knife Law Has Landed Thousands in Jail | Village Voice

Neal says he didn't start worrying that night until the officer used the term "gravity knife." He'd never heard that phrase before. And he really started to worry when the officer explained that his little Sheffield could land him in prison -- for years.

Neal ended that night in a squad car. There was only one problem: The knife he was carrying was not a gravity knife. At least, not by most of the world's definition.
And the prohibition is as strict as it is all-encompassing. A knife that can be shoehorned into that definition is not only illegal to carry, it's illegal to possess at all, even within one's home. The only narrow exceptions apply to those "actively engaged" in hunting and fishing, and are essentially meaningless in New York City.

The penalties are severe, too, as Neal would learn. As a prior offender, he was eligible for a felony "bump up," rendering the pocketknife Neal possessed the legal equivalent of an unlicensed, unloaded pistol. Though the court said he likely had no idea his knife was illegal, and he wasn't accused of using it toward any nefarious end, he was convicted nonetheless.

After a series of appeals, he was sentenced to six years in prison.

Gun Range Moves in Next Door to School, Boundless Hysteria Ensues - Hit & Run : Reason.com

Rancho Cordova, California, students are up in arms—so to speak—about a gun range moving in next door to their high school. The range is indoor—no stray bullets will be pelting classroom windows—but students, teachers, and administrators all believe the mere presence of a gun club so close to a school is inherently dangerous.

Gun clubs expand with growing number of high school trap shooting teams - Northfield MN: News

High school trap shooting teams have sprouted up across the state and with it an increase in demand for time and space at gun clubs.

The sport has continued to grow in the state with more than 10,000 student athletes expected to compete in the 2015 league. The Minnesota State High School Clay Target League, which started in 2000, doubled its participation numbers from a year ago this fall. This fall the league will host 1,770 participants from 68 high school trap teams and 13 high school skeet shooting teams.

The rising interest at the high school level is fueling investment in gun clubs around the area.
