Updates from FN...

The following was passed on to me by my FN Rep yestereday...

The FNAR Match will probably never see the light of day. McMillan apparently is having problems meeting the quality requirements of FN, so this project looks like it is dead in the water.

The The FN SCAR™ Sniper Support Rifle (SSR) will eventually make it's way to the commerical market. We probably won't see it for another year, but the FN rep made the mistake of answering yes when he meant no. This is apparently still very hush hush. No idea on price or any other details at this time.

There will not be a SCAR 17 long barrel released to the commercial market, at least not in the next year.

FN will have a new line of pistols coming out at the end of the year. This will include compact and full size. No other details yet.

No more dealer packages for this year. As most of us have seen with the customer service side of the house, FN is shaking up their management and they have brought in a new marketing team. They are still floundering around, but we've been told that the next dealer packages won't be released until Jan of 2012. This means no more swag this year.

There will be a very limited release of a over/under shotgun with only 200 being made. Expect this in about 5 months or so. No other details yet. We'll probably get at least one if not two of these when they hit.

Finally, SCAR 17 mags. The commercial arm is only getting production over runs from the military contracts right now. Still no word when those contracts will be fufilled. If anyone can find the contract numbers, I can look them up through my USMC job and see when the delivery orders run through and we can get a better gauge from there. On average, distributers are only getting 25 to 50 at a time. I understand this isn't going to change any time soon.

Nothing above what I've already indicated.

I'm a little peaved at my rep since he said there were no more FN packages this year and they just came out with a new one this week. Basically if we buy 5 guns of various types, we get a free fnx-40 in black. So, I guess take everything I posted originally wtih a grain of salt.

As I find out more stuff I'll let you guys know.
