This posting is with the blessing of Thermallator. (Thank you)
I have developed an iPhone application for storing weapon information, ammunition information, including hand loads, firing sessions, failures, and other data. I wrote this for myself and decided to post it to the app store.
I have made in depth tutorials and even a movie showing the app so that you can see what it does without having to waste a dollar unless you like it.
There is a users group if you want to make comments. If you don't like it post to the users group and say what you want changed. If you do like it and want some feature just post to the users group.
The app is "Gun Log".

Proceeds will go to the purchase of a new SCAR or maybe a double Filet O' Fish or at least my NRA dues, depending on the amount.
Thanks for letting me post this.
I just verified that version 2.2 is available and the update works and I did not lose any data during the process.
Thanks for using the app. I hope to make it more useful all the time. I know everyone doesn't care to use such a device or application. For those that do like to use it, let me know what you would like me to add to it. So far it is designed around my wants and needs.

If you have bought the app, I ask a favor...
Someone did a "one star" review of the app by mistake. It is a mistake because the features mentioned are not features of Gun Log. If you click the reviewer's name link to see the other reviews you will see where he had reviewed a different range log application which does advertise the features that are complained that do not work. An honest mistake. But "one star" sure wipes out the Gun Log.
Bad luck for me.
So, if you haven't reviewed the app, please do so. If you give it one star that is fine, just make sure you are giving one star to the right app!
p.s. This little mistake isn't enough to stop my plans for a new rifle. Soon, very soon.
Just checked again, Apple pulled the one star rating! Whew. If I get one star I want to earn it for myself, not because of a mistake.
Just released Gun Log version 2.5
The Gun Log Blog specifies the release details.
What's New in Version 2.5
Bullet Drop Estimator. In a Firing Set or from a Report the bullet drop can be estimated. In a weapon's configuration specify the sight height in inches above the bore axis and the zero range in yards. In the ammo's details specify the ballistic coefficient (typically a number between .2 and 1.0) and the muzzle velocity. With that data a "drop table" can be calculated that estimates the bullet's vertical position and time of flight. The calculations are based on the G1 ballistic coefficient with the standard assumptions of sea level and other variables.
Okay, I finally got the iPad app finished. It is a Universal App, which means it is the same app on the iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad. The "views" are updated to take the space available on the iPad. Orientation changes are now detected as well, but honestly on the iPhone portrait is the best, in my opinion.
For security reasons Gun Log doesn't export your data in anyway. Because of this you cannot share data between an iPhone and iPad version. It is a trade off.
Enjoy this update my friends.
Quick update to the app. Reworked the "target view" where you save a picture of your target. Just too much scrolling, the interface was too busy. Cleaned it up. Enjoy.
Hello,
Brand new member and I ran across this post...thank you, just purchased the app.
