Well I think I have a Austrian StG-58 parts but not sure Here are some pictures Any info would help. I plan to build it at some point. I think the mag I have is not the correct mag but I might be wrong. Also what do you all think its worth??
This is from the PO
"FAL parts kit with flash hider, bipod and a new milled Century Arms US made 85% complete receiver. Good condition. This unit is desirable since it has the original barrel still attached to the old saw cut receiver.
This unit is pretty much not available anymore as a parts kit. Hate to let it go but I am moving and need to consolidate."

It's a G1 kit. They are the only ones who used the removable flash hider. Used by the Germans & then most were sold to the Turks. Most were well used & have worn gas tube threads & some have fairly worn bores as well but still make decent shooters. The Century receiver is a raw casting & calling it 85% is a joke. I only know of a couple people who actually finished them into a working receiver and they had access to a full machine shop, plenty of time, lots of ability & said they would never do it again. It is a cool paperweight. I would suggest either a DSA or a Coonan type 1 receiver for your build. You have an inch pattern mag which won't fit. The good news is they are harder to find so posting a WTT in the marketplace here or on the falfiles sould get you someone willing to swap you 2 metric mags for it. The buttstock looks fairly nice compared to most G1s. Is it out of line to ask what you paid ? My first G1 kits (I bought 2) were bought from Tapco and I paid $89 each. One of them came through with all matching numbers which was fairly rare in those days.
I'm lost to what it is. Is it a G1??
Yea forgot to post this
I paid 325 shipped for all the parts. Do you guys think I over paid? Btw I was told was number matching but it is not. The bolt numbers do not match. The barrel matchs the lower. Then muzzle break does not the serial too.
Yes it's a G1 that the turks probably put the plastic grip on. They put different buttpads on too. And never cleaned or took care of them .$325 looks about right.
Actually a good percentage of the G1s that came out of Turkey had the wood PGs replaced with plastic during service. A good many of them also had the original Belgian buttstocks replaced with Turk made replacements. Of the 30 or so G1 kits I've handled personally only 5 or 6 had wood pistol grips. Plastic being the norm since these rifles were rebuilt several times. Thanks for asking. And to clarify, it looks EXACTLY like the vast majority of G1 kits that were around for sale 10 or so years ago as well as the kits minus barrels Apex is selling right now. You got a decent deal for what you paid if the bore is good. You can tell the difference between a G1 lower & an STG IF you know what you're looking for as well.I've NEVER seen an STG barrel with a quick disconnect flash hider either. Earlier German issue BGS kits had a threaded muzzle but those had different selector markings as well. This is a VERY typical example of a G1 rifle that came here via Turkey after being sold to them by the Germans. This concludes todays lesson on G1 identification...

Deadlego, you have an excellent buy for the money which includes the barrel. It doesn't matter if the bolt & carrier numbers match as they appear FN made and will function properly.
The magazine is inch and will not fit a metric receiver. You may also consider ditching the 80% Century receiver and purchase either a DSA or Coonan Type 1 receiver which would be historically correct for the G1.
Both DSA and Coonan receivers are currently on sale.
With proper assembly, head spacing, refinishing of wood and metal your kit may appear like this:

Can't tell from the picture, but can you use the iron sights with that scope mount? Looks like it might be open in the middle but not sureOriginally Posted by Redleg
