    Options on holo sight mounts?

I want a holographic / red dot sight for my 5-7. I've seen the small mounts that replace the rear factory sight dovetail. But mounting the sight on the slide, while compact, must give a terrific shock to the unit. Also it seems the mounts available are only for specific sights.

Isn't there a mount that will go on the bottom accessory rail with a carrier on the topside forward? There is no need for a holographic sight to be at the rear of the gun.

Does anyone know of such a mount?

Don't do it, bad things happen.
Not quite as bad as a slide breaking in half like on the Walther P22 when you do it but still bad.

I would not worry about MRD's holding up under the stress and force of the slide action. I have 1-Docter, 1-FastFire II, 2-Trijicon MRD's, 1-Trijicon RMR, & 2-Insight MRDS's currently mounted on various semi-auto pistols. That's 7 mini red dots on 7 pistols (pistols are chambered in 5.7x28, 9mm, & 45ACP). The longest has been mounted for 5 years and the youngest has been mounted for 2 years. All of them have thousands of rounds through the pistols and all of them function 100%.

A mount like that can and sometimes does cause severe damage to the pistol.

A few people that have tried a mount like that have had cracks in the frame near the rail mount.

If you need to mount an optic on the FsN use one of the mounts that replace the rear sight. I have not heard of any problems with that type of mount.

Does that super short red dot with the battery in a tray work well? I haven't been able to find any reviews of it, but it looks nice. What is the minimum dot size on it, if you happen to know?
