There are several different magazines made for the Five-seveN. I hope this will explain the differences and the pistol models they were made for.
The DAO and Tacical model FsN were made without a magazine safety and the mag made for them does not have the little ledge built in that lifts the mag safety bar that is present on the IOM and USG pistols. Tactical mags will not work in an IOM/USG, but any mag will work in the DAO and Tactical models. Here is a Tactical and IOM/USG mag side by side. Tactical on the bottom.
Then a standard 20 round IOM/USG magazine, works in all FsN models.
FNH has a 10 round IOM/USG magazine for the States with restrictions, it will work in all models too.
CMMG Inc. makes a 10 round extension that can be added to a standard 20 round magazine to make it a 30 rounder.
A standard 20 round mag and one with the 10 round extension added.
Pro Mag makes a 30 round magazine for the FsN.
The only magazine I don't have a pic of is a very rare mag made by FN for the IOM trials. It was a 20 round magazine that was internally blocked to 10 rounds to comply with the trial requirements.
can any one comment on the 10 round extenders? do they work well?
Mine works fine. I picked it up from cddn I think. Hell, it's been so long ago I can't remember. I did keep my original spring in mine as it seemed to cycle perfectlyYMMV
I paid around $9 for mine 1.5 years ago.

You see in this world there's two kinds of people my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig?
The ProMag one works if you clean up the inside of the channel and follower a little bit, and use an extra power mag spring. EA probably is the only place I know of to get an extra power mag spring by itself since MP can't be trusted to deliver...
I own 13 of the 30rd mags (20rd FN + CMMG 10rd extension). I have found that even with shaving the seams, that these mags are unreliable when fully loaded to 30rds.
Once you put the 28th rd in the magazine, the follower crosses over the seam in the mag bodies, and it causes the potential for a follower hangup as you fire the first few rounds out. The 100% reliable fix i have found for this is to simply load 28rds in each mag. This way as soon as a round is chambered, your follower is above the seam, and there is no way that it can interfere with the proper operation of the magazine.
In the mag i keep loaded in the gun for home defense, it has 27 in the mag, and one in the pipe.
I have found this method to be 100% reliable with all 13 of my 30rd magazines.
