Has anyone experienced this at an indoor range??? My local range said they did not permit this cal. In case I had military ammo which would possibly penetrate their roof
Was thinking to suggest they inspect my ammo to verify it is not military / armor piercing ...Thayer brings me to the question how to tell the difference ???
Appreciate any suggestions
I almost made a smart aleck comment about shooting the roof, then I remembered some of the folks I've seen doing stupid things at a range![]()
Figured I'd post here instead of starting a new thread.
5.7 not allowed on range....okay try this!
Last Sunday I went to Los Altos Rod n Gun club here in San Jose. This is an entirely outside (into the side of a hill) range.
As I was leaving the pistol range after amusing myself with exactly 100 rounds downrange, the range warden comes up to talk to me. He advises I'm not allowed to shoot the 5.7 here at the pistol range. I'm allowed to shoot it at the 50 or 100 yrd rifle range, or the tin can range, but not the pistol range. I'd been shooting at 10 and 20 yards. He said they had the caliber listed on their prohibited list.
Outdoor range, into dirt, side of a hill. Just wow
Cheers!!!
Better safe than sorry!!!!!! The Five-seveN pistol has been known to completely demolish huge sections of land!! A dirt hill at a pistol range is certainly not safe. I submit that any Five-seveN use should be relegated to abandoned areas of Three Mile Island. Only then will the general populace truly be safe.
(Btw, why is this thread in the accessories section?)
Because we're hoping it will just die and go away.Originally Posted by F1V3-53V3N

Five-seveN = the Chuck Norris of pistols.![]()
It's interesting that some ranges prohibit 5.7, yet are perfectly fine with the S&W 500 and 460, for which you can put together loads as fast as the 5.7, but much heavier.

If you're ever in Scottsdale, you should stop by Scottsdale Gun Club. Thirty-two 25 yard indoor air conditioned lanes. You can shoot anything except bird shot and armor piercing rods. They use magnets to test questionable ammo. You can rent many types of machine guns for $65 an hour without a membership. First two magazines free, then you pay for any additional ammo. This is the Club that got national acclaim 2 weeks ago doing Machine Guns with Santa Christmas card photos. 500 people there the second day.![]()
