Problem with Comp-Tac Minotaur and the 5.7?

I have been carrying my Walther PPS in a Comp-Tac Minotaur for well over a year now with no issues. It draws when I need it to, stays put when I don't.

So, when I bought my 5.7, I figured I'd just buy the shell for the 5.7 and keep the already broken in holster and save my hip the discomfort.

The shell came in today and I got it installed on the leather backing and slipped the 5.7 in it. Placed it IWB with my work outfit still on as I would do normally and the damned thing won't come out of the holster! I've tried lossening the adjustment screws till they weren't even tight anymore, I tried the different rubber spacers that go on the adjustment side, nothing. No matter what I did, it stayed pretty much the same. I pulled HARD, with everything I had, which raised my pants about 4" and still nothing. Pulled at a reaward angle, frontward, straight up, nothing.

I have an email off to Comp-Tac, but I wanted to see if anyone here had the same issues?

Well, it looks like I figured it out after scouring the Comp-Tac website. Evidently they had two "generations" of leather backings. And, of course, their Kydex spare bodies don't fit the Generation 1 backings, which I evidently have... Lucky me. So I have to order another Gen 2 backing today and wait another week and a half for it to come in...

So much for using one holster with a different kydex body...

Yeah that's one reason I bought the crossbreed. Gun XX can conform to the leather on Holster XX, and Gun BB can do the same thing on holster BB

Well, on the plus side, the new holster shipped yesterday, so I should have it in a day or two.. They say there are no plans to re-design the bodies any time soon, but who knows..

Now if I can just get Blackhawk! to make a Serpa for the FNP45.

Got the new backing in yesterday, put the body they sent me on it, now it's 10 times worse than with my already broken in backing...

Will be calling them today and this may be the last time I do business with them.

Well. I got off the phone with them just now and they basically don't have an answer.. The woman I talked to suggested that the leather backing just wasn't broken in yet and that may be why its gripping the gun like it is. She asked me to keep the gun in the holster for a day or two and maybe wear it around the house to see if it breaks in some... I never had this issue with their other holster for my Walther PPS, so I'm skeptical, but I'll try it. She also said maybe some mink oil or the like on the leather. Sorta like breaking in a baseball glove.

The only other thing she said I could do was send the Kydex back so they could try to "re-fit" it. But she said they almost never need refitting when they get them in.

    Sigh...

Just an update for those of you who have asked. I stuck the gun in the holster for two days like they told me to do and the problem did become evident finally. I also slid it in and out of the holster (gun unloaded and not on my belt) for about half an hour Friday night.

The lug that protects the slide release is digging into the leather backing, causing the gun to get stuck in the holster when you try to draw it. There's quite an indentation in the backing where the lug sits and you can now see where the lug has roughed up the backing as the gun is drawn. It still is very hard to draw the weapon, but it has gotten slightly better than when I first put it in there. That means I can get the gun to come out of the holster while it's being worn if I grab it by the slide, or take a few minutes to move the gun around before it comes out.

I wore the gun around the house and out and about this weekend and am wearing it today, as they also suggested I do. We'll see if the leather finally gives way to the lug by the end of the week this week or not. Something tells me they haven't sold any 5.7 holsters that were right hand draw, or someone would have run into this problem before me. That lug is a nightmare!

If you are having problems drawing your firearm due to the holster, I would not wear it outside the house. I'd hate to know that if I need to draw the firearm that drawing is an issue at this time. Just my

I know, I just want to speed this up and/or give it back as fast as possible at this point. I am taking a chance for sure, but I need to get this resolved.
