If you do subject the Five-seveN to a blast, I think it would only be fair (to the gun) to have it in a holster as that is most likely where it would be in the event of an IED or some other explosive situation.

I would actually like to see if the gun would shoot after getting shot in the slide. I know the polymer cover would be toast, but it would be cool to see if the gun would function after getting hit with a small bullet or some serious shrapnel.

You know I was getting very excited about the FN 5.7....I did a lot of reading about it and even decided the price was not going to stop me from owning one then while reading some of the threads [ I just joined the forum) it occurred to me that I had never checked if ammo was readily available so I started looking...In as much as it is available I just realized it costs roughly $.50 a round....50 CENTS A ROUND....give me a break...My 9mm Hk `s and Glocks cost me less than $.20 ....So maybe I`m jumping the gun here and maybe there is someplace that I`m not aware of that you can purchase it cheaper because if that`s what it costs...they can keep the 5.7x28...Heck my 223 only cost $.20 some cents...Based on the previous posts that they shot 40,000 rounds that would cost $20,000 my 9mm would cost less that 1/3 of that...I`m a guy that shoots my guns there were rarely ever safe queens in my house but at the cost of this 5.7 I`m out....no disrespect here just my common sense...maybe when [if ever ] someone decides to make ammo within reason I`ll Take another look

This round is a high quality, slightly proprietary round. Yes it will be a little more expensive then the more common calibers. With a little searching you can find bulk buys for as low as .39/per round. See this thread for finding a good deal.

Considering that the 5.7x28mm is only used in under 10 produced weapons, it's a niche caliber. For that I expect it to a be a little bit pricier than the stuff I can find at Wally-World.
Nothing good can ever come from staying with normal people.

Welcome to FNForum. You can find the 5.7X28 rounds cheaper than that. Cabellas has a sale going on now for $0.40 a round. Sometimes they come in cheaper than that. Buying in bulk will always save you money. You have to remember that 9mm quality ammo cost about the same or even more.

A pure democracy operates by direct majority vote of the people. When an issue is to be decided, the entire population votes on it; the majority wins and rules. A republic differs in that the general population elects representatives who then pass laws to govern the nation.

    Great first post.
