    Adjustable sight problem

    Hello Group,

I have Five and Seven with adjustable sights that I carry off duty. The problem I'm having is when the rear sight is pushed downward due to the sight hitting my body or sitting in a chair the sight adjustment screw moves throwing the rear sight out of adjustment. Spoke to FNH and they are aware of it and have resolved the issue in their newer versions of the pistol, however, they have no solution for my issue. Is there anyone else out there that has had this same issue and was able to correct it without a modification or trading the weapon in for a newer version?

    Thanks and stay safe,

    Ed

What do you carry the pistol in?

I've never had my body or sitting in a chair move the rear sight when I carried that model.

A pure democracy operates by direct majority vote of the people. When an issue is to be decided, the entire population votes on it; the majority wins and rules. A republic differs in that the general population elects representatives who then pass laws to govern the nation.

    What type of holster?

    What position/How do you carry?

    How tall are you?

    How big are you?

When does this most prominently happen? What are you doing?

Sorry guys I should have been clearer, I carry it in two styles of off duty holsters the first being an in the pants holster with the weapon snug against my body and when I bend in certain ways I can feel the rear sight dig into my side, causing the rear sight to depress down against the spring. The other holster is a Blackhawk Serpa Holster carried on my right hip and have had the rear sight depress downward against the spring when the rear sight was pressed by leaning over a center console of a vehicle or lying on the floor of a motor vehicle while conducting a search under the seats or dash of a vehicle, etc. When I sight the weapon in I have marked the position of the screw to later find the screw moved and since the screw has indexing it can only be moving when the rear sight is depressed during some of the activity listed above.

    Thanks again,

    Ed

Change your holster position or change your pistol.

Please indicate the "version" of your pistol, or least when it was purchased. Thanks.

If FN has in fact updated the rear sight on the newer pistols the solution would be to buy the newer rear sight and replace the one on your pistol. It would take a brass hammer and punch, and about five minutes to do the swap.

If you're conducting searches while carrying your pistol, it sounds like you are on duty. Duty pistols are usually fixed sight pistols as evidenced by your troubles. Adjustable sight pistols are for target shooting JMHO.

    And welcome to the board!
