FNP-45 Barrel Wear: Does This Look Normal?

I wanted to know if these marks on the corners of my barrel block are normal wear and tear. Anyone else have this?

By the way...I haven't even shot this gun yet, only cycled the slide a bunch of times. Should I contact Bob at FN Customer Service regarding this?

For what it's worth here's a picture of my feed ramp:

That's normal. Might want to use grease to lube the corners.

Thanks. My heart skipped a beat when I noticed it. It actually looks a thousand times worse in that photo than it actually is because it's zoomed so close. Does yours look as "bad" as mine? Will it get worse? Will it effect accuracy/function?

I put some Mil-Comm TW25B on each corner.

Mine appears to be about like that, but I also have over 2500 rounds through mine. Each gun will show different wear, so yours may look worse once you have several thousand rounds through it, or it might not change much. I haven't noticed much of a change in mine for what its worth. Function and accuracy shouldn't be affected by it unless there is so much material removed that it becomes a smooth slope (worse case scenario and I doubt that will ever happen by normal wear and tear).

    Dan,

I know the slide is stainless steel, but what about the barrel? Do those corners have the potential to rust?

I believe the barrels are stainless as well. I don't think you have to worry about rust, especially if you keep it oiled or lubed every now and then (couple times a year).

The two FNP-45 units I owned:

The feed ramps were like mirrors. Your feed ramp looks as though some drunk went nuts with a stone attachment on a bad Dremel.

I would put a call in to Robert at FNH USA regarding this.

Could be the camera. The pic looks a bit blurry.

On mine it appears you can see the tooling marks, but it is smooth. Can also see a little wear or maybe just copper fouling where the nose of the rounds go up it.

For what it's worth here's a picture of my feed ramp:

    1. someone used a dremmel on your feed ramp and the adjacent ogive of the left and right side of the chamber. It looks like an abortion of a job too.

    2. the barrel has at least 1,000 rounds through it

    IMHO

    FWIW, here's mine:

2510 rounds through it (2511 if you count the factory fired one).
