Well silencerco I just came out with a new piston or the Fnp tacticals. It's a known issue and they found a fix. I just took mine out for the first time last week and sure enough I had a slight baffle strike. Sending off to silencerco Monday for a new baffle stack and piston.

Last year I had a small baffle strike with my FNP 45-Tac and 45Osprey suppressor as well. They were awesome about replacing the front tube and baffle stack at no cost to me.
Also as Gdirty5 said, they recently designed a new piston for use with the FNP 45-Tac that fixes the possible alignment issue. The old piston indexed off the shoulder and with some barrels, the shoulder wasn't concentric with the bore. The new pistons index off the front end of the barrel and they said this has fixed the problem with baffle strikes when using it on the FNP 45-Tac pistol.
I sent them an email asking about how to purchase the new piston since it wasn't listed on their web site yet and they told me to just give them my address and they would ship me one free of charge. SilencerCo has some of the best customer service in the industry.

Yea, Silencerco is taking care of my osprey and swapping my piston for me. So I can't wait to get I back, guess I'm just going to had to settle shooting my usp tActical and Tirant 45

Let me understand, I just purchased an Osprey for the FNP 45 Tactical. I have to wait on the feds but can I assume I am buying something that will need to be sent to the factory for an upgrade? Will it make the osprey only for the FNP then or will I still be able to use it on my SIG 1911? I think I will certainly be discussing this with my dealer seeing as how he will be sitting on it till I get my "TAX" stamp. Seems he could make it right while I'm waiting rather than wait and then have to reslove it after I get it.

Hock, as mentioned above you should be able to get the piston sent to you, or you could have your dealer send it in..
Yeah I got that but the point is new ones should be taken care of. If not, it appears they are only gonna fix it if you have a FNP 45 tac and complain. The other part of the question is, will the piston modification affect using the OSPREY on other platforms? I would think not but you know what happens when you assume. If it's too much trouble I'd have rather went with a round can.

I kept my original piston to use with other hosts and they are sending me a new piston for the FNP 45-Tac free of charge. Not sure if they are sending out the upgraded piston with the new suppressors or if it's just for FNP 45-Tac use. I figured having both would cover my needs. The best thing to do is call SilencerCo and ask, not go through your dealer. It's better hearing it straight from the manufacturer and you can ask a specific question without worrying if your dealer misunderstood what you wanted to find out.

I originally bought my opsrey to use with my USP tactical, Compact tactical, and hk45CT. Which all use the same left hand twist piston. I later bought a few different pistons, 1/2x28 and 13.5LH, the .578 for the FNP, I can also use it on my 300blk novekse rifle.
So as far as will it work on your guns, yes, the osprey is a VERY versatile suppressor. The problem with the FNP and osprey is the the pistons usually sit on the shoulder of the barrel right after the threading, and apparently that's not concentric to the barrel. So to fix that, the new piston will seat on the tip of the barrel. That should be able to work on any "american" .45. HK's tend to go left hand twist, all of mine are at least, so I have to buy separate pistons for my glocks, and 1911's than my HK's.

I just talked to kenny at silencerco, and asked him if the newly designed .578x28 pistons will work on all other barrels/platforms, he said yes it will. gdirty is correct.
I put a call into them this AM and got transfered to Steve N. voicemail. No call back yet.
