Question Cleaning the FNP 45 Tactical while an RMR is attached

I have done quite a bit of searching, but haven't found any posts discussing this before.

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for keeping the RMR from getting cleaning solution on it while cleaning the FNP 45 Tactical's slide. According to the manual, gun cleaning solutions can ruin the RMR. I use a soft rag to cover the RMR while cleaning the slide. Just wondering if anyone else has a better approach.

I cover mine with a cutoff thumb finger from a latex glove. It stretches over and fits snugly.

They will also stretch over scopes, lights and lasers.

I use a technique I learned working on cars and motorcycles -- I cover the RMR with aluminum foil. I use a cotton swab to smooth it down so it stays attached until you're done cleaning....

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up using the thumb from a latex glove. That method worked pretty well.

Office supply places sell things called "finger cots"... they're thicker latex and have a band at the open end like a condom - less likely to tear than a thumb cut off a latex glove...and can be reused many times. (Unlike the glove thumbs, which usually tear when I try to remove them from the sight.)

I have no idea of what a "cots" is. I went to a Staples today to search out "finger cots" and only found finger covers that were too small and not flexible enough to go over an RMR. Maybe small balloons would work instead.

Well, color me embarrassed. Right after posting this I decided to google finger cots and I was inundated with hits. My apologies bud.
