The hard part was installing the new sights, especially the front sight. The fit seemed to be much tighter than the stock sights.

I am just curious how everyone likes the Ameriglo night sights? Are they really effective in low/no light? Does anyone have a photo of their sights in low/no light in an album on this site?
I have been holding out for Truglo to start producing their TFO sights for the FNP45. I spoke with them in 2009 and they couldn't give me an eta yet. I really like the TFO concept because they combine tritium and fiber optic sights together. I'd like to get a green front and yellow or red rears.
But, if the Ameriglo sights are really effective, I might consider geting those in the mean time.
Thanks,

The Ameriglow are effective. They use Trijicon inserts. Used to have a pic of them in the dark (not a very good one b/c my camera sucks), but I apparently deleted it. It also didn't show how bright they are (I have the green/green combo).

I have night sights on most of my pistols and as sights, I think the AmeriGlow Pro are the best. The tritium inserts are pretty much the same as my others, but the sight picture is far better.

Thanks for the responses on that. I had Meprolight night sights on a Kimber but was not impressed with them. They glowed some, but they did not jump out at you.

Does anyone know if the Ameriglo sights referenced here are the same sights standard on the new FNP45 tactical. They appear to be apart from height for the suppressor.
They are different. The ones on the tactical are made by Trijicon for FN and are made to clear a suppressor and are probably close to a centimeter taller than the ameriglow ones (just guessing there).Originally Posted by panthers

ameriglo offers the taller sights if desired. the regular sights are made to the factory height of the weapon.

While back my girlfriend bought me some AmieriGlo sights for my FNP-40.Originally Posted by powermad
I didn't have a tool to do it, so I called the place I got it from. Said he had a sight drift and it would be about $25 to do it. So I drive up there and he pulls out the exact sight tool you posted. He pops the old rear sight out in no time.
Then he starts working on putting the other one in. It doesn't quite fit, so he has to file it down a little. I've never installed a sight, nor have I seen it done in person. I did read some pages and watch some tutorials and this seemed common, so I didn't think anything about. He was still attending to other customers (small shop, just him and another guy), so I'm walking around the store and BSing with the other guy behind the counter. All of a sudden I hear a pop and something fly across the room.
The sight broke a piece of the slide off behind the dove tail.As we are looking at the pieces, I see that the sight is just wrecked. The tool just butchered the hell out of it. Not sure if AmeriGlo put the wrong sight in the package or what, because he had been sanding/filing down the sight for a while. But the guy says he'll take care of it. Ship it back to FN, have them look at it.
3 weeks later he calls me back and let's me know my gun is back. Drive out there and find that FN put night sights on it for meAlso, somehow my case got damaged. It's broke on one of the hinges.
Lessons learned:
1) That sight tool, at least in that guy's hands, will destroy a sight.
2) That guy at the store will never touch another one of my guns.
3) FN customer service is awesome.
