    FNX9, trigger guard issue

    I have a FNX9.

I bought this pistol just to have a modern fifteen round hand gun. I thought it would be something I would enjoy shooting. It would have served the intended purpose except my finger flesh drags on the trigger guard. I cannot stand that condition. What would be nice is for the ability to reform the guard so there is a proper clearance.

Can you post a photo here to show how and where you're having the finger problem with the gun?

Are sure you have an FNX-9 since the 9mm holds 17 rounds or 10 rounds in certain states?

    The FNX-45 holds 15 rounds.

Sorry for not responding sooner, what follows is an attempt at posting pictures of my issue.

The first two pics are an attempt to illustrate the lack of trigger guard clearance I have with the FNX9. The last pic is of a S/W mdl 39. If you can see, the shape of the S/W 39 guard clears the compressed finger flesh as it is pressed against the trigger. In the case of the FNX9, the compressed flesh drags on the entire length of the guard.

If the guard was just 1/32" lower along its entire length there would be no problem. I am not an overweight person, so a fat finger is not the issue. I have looked at many other manufacturers pistols and they all have the same issue where the frame is made of composite materials.

I like the FNX9, it is accurate, functions well. I hope someone can suggest a fix. It appears the entire frame would have to be replaced. I am almost tempted to cut off the guard, then remount it using epoxy fill to lower it enough for the clearance needed. I do not know enough about the material to be sure a modification of that type could be done.

How do you reduce the size of a pic?

OK, hopefully these pics are of a low enough resolution to be posted. Please see attached.
It looks like they were uploaded.

The first pic is the FNX9, illustrating the trigger finger flesh dragging on the guard. Not a good condition!! The second pic is a S/W mdl39, the trigger finger flesh clears the guard as it should.

It would be nice if FN could/would offer a replacement guard that simply curls downward so the finger flesh does not drag against the guard!! If there is no interest in correcting this issue, I will either sell the firearm or cut the guard off and reattach it using epoxy fill to lower it. Any thoughts any of you readers may have are appreciated.

Alright, I am done!! If FN cannot or anyone else cannot understand what I have explained, then I am obviously not capable of communication. It is pointless for me to attempt further interaction.
