Glad to help. This is way more frustrating than I expected. I'm not even sure about the screws. I don't have a thread gage. You fairly certain they are SAE? If they are 5-40, I only saw one other length in a flat head Torx on McMaster Carr. 1/2" What we have are 3/8" in length. I would assume 1/2" would work.

Not sure, but it seems all brands need some type of shim if you want to co-witness.

Success at last. The "Delrin Shim 1.0 Degree for Vortex Venom & Viper, Burris Fastfire II, III, Docters and Sightmark Optics" shim worked in conjunction with the FN supplied plate. The only screws that would work were the FN supplied cap screws...none of the FN or Vortex countersunk screws work. All that said, the Viper is firmly in place and now zeroed in. Not sure why the 1 degree shim is required when 0 degree at the right thickness would be optimal.

Strange,I didn't have any supplied screws that would work with the FN plate let alone adding the 1 degree shim. I had to buy some 5-40 x 1/2". The supplied 5-40 flathead screws are only 3/8" in length and barely poked through the FN mounting plate.. The supplied socket head cap screws are a different thread. At least mine are anyway.

Very likely might have cross-threaded my slide as a result. I too noticed the different threads but they seemed to work without force or abnormal torque.
