That's bizarre. I wonder if the rail was originally the part that failed causing the fire control housing to break?

FN should be able to just replace the fire control group and the rails. Shouldn't be anything wrong with the polymer lower (serialized portion), but they still might just give you a new gun.

    Hello Everyone
I contacted FN customer service to get all the details in process along with the photos above. I was also in contact with David Medige (Dealer Support FN America) yesterday to discuss next steps. I expect more information on the RMA Monday from David and will keep the forum posted. I advised FN Customer Service and David Medige that I would like the pistol replaced not repaired. I hope FN does the right thing and replaces the pistol. The fact that the pistol failed inside of 7 rounds down the pipe is unacceptable, especially a $1000 plus pistol.

I will keep everyone in the loop

Hopefully they will replace it. Is yours an isolated incident?

It would seem to be. I don't think anyone else here has ever seen anything quite like it.

I visited Shooter Outpost this morning to show them the damage to the rear slide guides. The owner Jim says he has seen damage similar to my pistol on Glocks but never FN. Jim’s comment was that damage to the guides is most often the result of hot +P ammo. Unfortunately this pistol has only had 6 rounds run down the pipe of standard ammo, so the +P concern is not valid in this case.

If I had to guess, the rear metal guides were over hardened during the manufacturing process. I know FN had some hardness issues with the barrels on the SCAR line months back resulting in multiple warranty returns.

I will keep all posted as this continues to evolve

Thats unfortunate, I hope FN takes care of you. I just received my brand new FNX Tactical FDE and am anxious to shoot it, hopefully this is an isolated incident.
