    FNX being updated?

With the 509 being the updated version of the FNS, does anyone know if the FNX will get the same treatment? I was thinking about a 45 tactical, but I'll hold off if something newer is coming in the future. To my understanding the FNX line is older than the FNS.

i might be wrong but the FNX line is an upgrade from the FNP series and came after the FNS.

Unlikely as the 509 was done for the military contract contest. Unless there is a call for a similar program for a hammer fired handgun, unlikely they would do a model update just for the fun of it. Even then, the government deals mostly with 9mm, which is why the 509 is only in 9mm.

The FN-509 was developed in response to the US Modular Handguns System (MHS) competition -- and there was a chance of getting some good business out of that undertaking. Ruger did the same thing with their "American" handgun, but then decided not to compete -- as Ruger didn't like all of the terms and conditions of the final contract. But, in the process, Ruger -- like FNH -- created a pretty good gun.

FNH may continue to make upgrades to existing guns, or create new lines (which might be what the FNX was -- an updated version of the FNP), but without the incentive of something like the US MHS competition, they'll probably not RUSH such developments.

As noted above, SHOT SHOW is were many gun makers introduce new features or new guns -- and that's when you'll likely see new FNH developments..
