New to this website, but I got my FNX-9 yesterday and took it out shooting today. I had a few problems with it, and I can't figure out what the solution could be. I need some help if anyone knows anything. So my first 10-20 rounds fired, almost every other round wouldn't make it completely into the chamber, the round would get stuck halfway and the slide would be stuck halfway open. I lubed it up some and it helped, but barely. Then I took the magazine apart and cleaned/lubed that up and it helped a lot but about every 5 shots a round would still get stuck entering the chamber. Any help with that problem? Also every other time I would finish off a magazine, the slide wouldn't put itself in the "open" position. What could this be and what should I do? Is it the slide lock? Can both these problems be from the same thing? The fnx is new from bass pro shop, I'm using Remington UMC 9mm Luger 115 Gr. MC. if that helps at all. Please help! Im so bummed
I had some more minor feeding issues the one time I tried some Remington UMC. My problem was that it didn't want to load smoothly. Was during the first few hundred rounds, so the problem may go away with break-in. FWIW I've not had the problem with the cheaper stuff like Tula or Blazer or range reloads.
New FNX 9s are pretty stiff and UMC is pretty weak ammo.
Try another brand and see how it goes. At this point I would chalk this up to a break in issue.
Be sure to clean and lube the pistol too...

okay thanks guys i will try some other rounds and see if that helps the feeding problem...but as for the slide not staying to the rear..any input on that? and everyone else feel free to put in your 2 cents, for both the problems, i can use it..![]()
Sounds like the slide is short-stroking, right?Originally Posted by BlitzPig
That would explain the rounds not loading into the chamber consistently and the slide not locking back.
Stiff recoil spring + weak ammo = slide not locking back and failure to return to battery
More rounds down range will fix the break in issues.![]()

Also try locking the slide open and let the thing sit for a week or so.

Alright I am going to the range today to finish off the UMC and im gonna buy some different rounds and see how they do. then after that I'll lock it open and go again next week and repost on the progress. Thank alot guys! Im relieved you all think it's a break in issue/crappy ammo, I thought it was something bad haha thanks again guys and everyone else im def. still interested in anything you all have to say
Go get some Winchester White Box at WallyWorld and shoot $50-100 (~400 ROUNDS) Last lot I bought was snappy as hell and I had no issues with FTF or FTE. Lock the slide back between range trips and 1/2 load the mags to loosen up the springs. I bought a FNP-9 with the same issues but after 500-1000 rounds of the WWB it shoots like butter.
Good Luck and keep us posted,
John

Update: Okay i left the slide open all day today, and just went and put 150 rounds down range. The rounds entered the chamber every single time with no problems, except my third shot jammed somewhere in the gun and I had to use more then a necessary amount of strength to pull the slide back..i wasnt too worried about that BUT, here's what I'm really curious about- 2 or 3 times when I finished off a magazine the slide wouldn't lock itself back. So I'm guessing it still needs some breaking in?... (only 250rds through it so far). Any advice will still help! I'm gonna leave the slide open and the mags with 10 rds in each until I go shooting again (probably next week or the week after. Again, all advice is very much appreciated!
By 400 rounds, the slide should be reliably being held back.
Also, mark your mags. There may be one or 2 mags that are causing the issue if it isn't happening all the time.
