Tracking your Accuracy and Malfunctions with FNX

I'm starting this thread for everyone who is buying the FNX so that we can start compiling data and establish a reputation for the gun. That way, when we are sitting around with our gun buddies, we can really brag about it. lol. Plus we can be more confident with it in our every day carry.

    I'm gona kick it off:

    current round count: ~700
Malfunctions: 1 reason: FTF (tul ammo steel case stuck in magazine, Racking slide cleared it)

Lubrication used: Otis Special Forces Dry lube
    Cleaned every: ~250 rounds

Most recent grouping*: 25 yards, 5" group. (group score of 5)
Most common grouping: 15 yards, 3" group (group score of 5)
Best grouping**: 25 yards, 5" group: (group score of 5)
Average group score (distance divided by group size)

*a group is 5 shots, not counting the farthest round of the 5
**if group score is the same, longer range groupings are better

Longest range hit: ~100 yards, 4x8 inch target
Longest DA shot hit: ~15 yards, 10" target

Most memorable shooting event: Drawing a smiley face measuring 6" from 15 yards. Shooting 5 head sized baloons in under 5 seconds with 5 shots.

Well, I don't keep that kind of accuracy data. Don't have a lot of reason to do so. My main realm is teaching noobs SD-type shooting and practicing for IDPA. As long as I keep all of my shots in the down 1 zone through a session, I'm a happy camper. I use the FNX mainly for teaching, but shoot it in IDPA SSP occasionally (HiPower in ESP and Wesson CBOB in CDP are my primaries).

As for my FNX-9, a little over 1K down range (WWB, GA Arms and Winchester T-Series) over the last year or so with zero malfs. Only problem I've encountered is 1 mag that won't lock the slide back.

    Very please with the pistol.

Anyone who posts here doesn't have to put the same info I put up. I only put that up to give people an idea of what to put up. Just tell us how accurate you are with your pistol compared to your other pistols, and how many malfunctions and rounds have gone through it.

Accuracy is just fine...more so than me!

Seriously, if I put my mind to it, I can easily punch out the 0 in an IDPA practice target out to about 15yds....further than that is my problem, not the pistol's.

The pistol is extremely easy for me to shoot and fits my hand like it was made for me.

    Sure.

Oh, BTW...RE: my 1 mag that won't lock the slide back....just fixed that. Took the mag apart...spring was bent (kinked?) just under the follower, preventing the follower from completely engaging the slide lock lever. Straightened that and stretched it a bit...works fine now. Going to the range tomorrow or Friday and will give it a work out...see what happens.

Oh...this procedure also works on Zippo lighters with weak flint-strikes!

I have approximately 2400-2500 rounds through my FNX.

My first 50rds were break in and the FNX had some trouble. I took it home and cleaned it up thoroughly. Not a single jam, FTE, FTF, since then. Also all my mags function perfectly and lock the slide back once empty.

I use mine for daily carry and IDPA. It is very accurate but my favorite feature is the sights. The large front sight dot gives me a speed advantage over more experienced shooters in many of the competitions. Or so I tell myself. I'm usually just above the middle of the pack for ESP.

I am not a great 25m shot but at 10m I've got decent 3" groups.

Just getting started with the FNX 40. I cleaned and lubed it before heading to the range the first time. So far only 340 rounds of 5 different loads/brands of ammo. Perfect, perfect, perfect. Very accurate, at least as good or better than my S-W MP 9 Pro. I hope to start reloading for it in 2 weeks and will try to measure group sizes or post pictures then. Our ranges have been snow covered or muddy for a few weeks now so I haven't tried 25 yard shots but 15 and under are very accurate. One curious note, the trigger pull gets lighter every time I clean it after a range session. A very nice bonus
