Already done. They stopped making them in 2011.

Check the local gun shows. I don't know how you all feel about them ,but every time I go I walk out with a great deal. Just got the fnx 9 for $475 out the door. Might be worth a look. I just went in knowing the least amount I could get it for from gun broker including shipping and transfer and knew I wouldn't pay more than that at the show. The cheapest fnx 9 on gun broker right now is $549 plus shipping and transfer. Like I said it might be worth taking a look. I thinly they had the fnp tactical for just shy of $800. They'reprobably all different, but still...

So, just to clarify, if I purchased a new FNP 45 tactical in 10/11 should I be concerned that it is not the improved version or is it likely an FNX that is just currently still called FNP?

I wouldn't be worried. I don't think the FNX 45 Tactical will be any different.
