    FNX9 Holster Review

*This review is solely my personal opinions and is based upon my experiences with these products.*

Hello everyone! This is my second holster review for the site. I haven't seen many, then again I could be looking in the wrong places. In fact I probably posted this in the wrong area. My original holster(s) review was on a Leg Drop holster I purchased and the infamous Fobus paddle holster (I'm sure many of us here have it, or did have it.). You can view that review Here : FNP Holster(s) Review

My previous review was based on my old FNP-9 that I did own, It was stolen and I was fortunate enough to upgrade to the FNX. This holster review will be about the Blackhawk! HK P30 serpa holster. I saw a thread about it a while ago, and while I was at the Gun & Knife show this weekend (they come every other month here), I picked up the holster for a grand total of 38$.

Holster Brand: Blackhawk! HK P30 with Belt and Paddle attachments
    Firearm: FN FNX9

FN is a great company, and makes fantastic firearms. What is not great is the lack of support on the accessories side for these firearms for this manufacture. That leaves us FN-atics with a slim to none available to choose from. So while I was cleaning my pistol and AR from a trip to my personal range this weekend, I decided to write the review and give back to this community, on to the review shall we?

    The Holster:

Firearms are fun, especially when they go bang. What's not fun is when they go bang due to your negligence. Always handle firearms in a SAFE manner at all times. Like for example, even though my AR was unloaded and clear, the safety was not on.

    Safety check.

Now upon first impressions the holster fits VERY well. So well in-fact it's almost as if this holster was made for the FNX9. Upon closer inspection this is where I noticed the small flaws, but they are not really bad enough to consider them a "flaw" I think.

Like I was saying, I have not noticed any serious wiggle in any direction. By serious I mean more than 1/16th of an inch at most. I live in a Open Carry state so after using this holster after I purchased it around 9am Saturday, all day at the range, and all day Sunday till about two hours before I posted this, I am more than satisfied with my purchase. However, here is the "flaw".

In the picture below, if you are looking at the center of the holster where the front sight post will sit, to the right of that area you should be able to see a slight line going vertical. It's actually on both sides of the center mark. That vertical line is where the pistol's slide is rubbing up against the holster. Bad? Good? Damage? Not really in any of those instances. Again this holster is for the HK P30, so there are some differences and this just happens to be one of them. It hasn't affected the way the holster performs that I can notice. So I wouldn't really call it a "bad flaw". You can sorta notice it, in some of the other pictures above where it is making contact, on the edges of the pistol's slide.

In conclusion, $38 for this holster from a reputable company like Blackhawk!, well lets just say I am glad I made this purchase. This fits my FNX9 much better than my previous Fobus P250 holster that we all have come to know for the FNP's. The retention screw for the HK p30 holster is pretty much perfect out of the box (for me anyways), if you choose this holster you may or maynot need to make adjustments. Also I took these pictures with my iPhone because I am to lazy to drag out my DSLR tonight.

    Thanks for viewing!

I'm a new fnx owner ( and new forum member). After looking for reviews on holsters for the fnx series I found myself here. Purchased a Blackhawk Serpa holster for the P30 and it fits really tight...too tight. I see that a few other people claimed this holster fits their fnx too tight so I'm wondering if there is some re-tooling of this product that happened recently. Anyways, I'm going to try modifying mine to fit. Glad this worked for you!

I have the same holster and have experienced the tightness, in the same area, as well. I'm thinking of warming the holster up around my wood burning stove and trying to manipulate it some to possibly relieve some of the pressure. It seems like it would only entail trying to square the holster to the 'blockyness' of the FNX slide.

I would like to see this type of holster specifically for the FNX/FNP line of pistols in the future, i really like how they function.

    Welcome to FNForum.

A pure democracy operates by direct majority vote of the people. When an issue is to be decided, the entire population votes on it; the majority wins and rules. A republic differs in that the general population elects representatives who then pass laws to govern the nation.
