What do you guys think? on or off
I personally removed it because I want the mags to drop freely. I only ask this to get input and maybe help anyone that is trying to decide whether to keep it or not, by getting experienced opinions.
If it's just a can-killer, leave it in.
If it's a competition or defensive carbine, ditch that skirt ASAP.
Leave it and drill mag changes accordingly. Just my .02

Removing the "skirt" allows for more options for mag changes. Sure you should drill if you keep it in and you can learn to do it fast, but you will be limited to one way of removing the mag. You can remove the skirt and change mags the same way as if the skirt was present with the ability to try other styles. Sometimes you need to let the situation dictate your mag change style and not try to get the mag change style to fit the scenario. Ultimately, one should do what works best for him and not worry about what other egos think. BTW, nothing on a rifle should be called a "skirt".

I do not own a FS2000 but all the articles I have read if you remove the seal it will allow the use of 20rd mags as you cant grip them to pull them free with the seal in place but they fall free without the seal.

I trimmed mine with an exacto knife, left the dust skirts on but trimmed them very short and it made a huge difference removing the magazine easily, not drop free but very close. Its exactly how I want it.
I agree. I have a Bushmaster 10-round magazine I'm quite fond of that I use. If I still had that little skirt, just enough hangs down that I could still finaggle it out, but it would be a pain.Originally Posted by blkbd

IMHO, b/c I own, but have not shot my FS2K (got it today): I despise any weapon where the mag is 'stuck' even after releasing. I want a mag to drop into my hand so I can switch easily and comfortably. No, I'm not shooting for a competition, but I spend a good deal shooting outdoors and people get nervous when they see someone 'wrestle' with their weapon. Perhaps I could have just trimmed the seal, but that would mean I would have had to taken the whole weapon apart in order to do so neatly. An Allen key, 8 firm pushes and 5 minutes later I had the seals pulled out and my mags dropped perfectly.
