I am a new California resident. Sadly, I didn't have the cash to buy the FS2000 I wanted before I moved. Now I need to figure out how to best obtain a CA-legal FS2000 without going to jail.
AIUI that means I can either buy an FS2000 that's already had the needed mods applied or buy one and have it modified by an FFL. Is that right?
I'm eligible for the FN military discount and would prefer to use it if possible. Do any of y'all know whether I can have FN ship the FS2000 with 10-round mags?
I welcome any info or corrections, since living in such a freedom-hating state is new to me.![]()
I was looking into this subject when I was thinking of PCSing to California. And the below website seemed to make the case that it is very difficult to legally own an FS2000 in California. There appears to be one interesting loophole that military members can bring one in when/if they PCS to a base in the state.

California laws suck.![]()
I would look into the DOJ website, or the NRA site.![]()
PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH
07/02 SOT Manufacturer, Suppressors, NFA Firearms, and everything else COOL!
Yes CA law sucks.
They key is to modify your rifle to stay legal within CA and also have the ability to reconfigured it with ease to to use when out of state as it was inteneded by the manufacturer.
Sorry, but I am going to keep this brief. I'll try posting later if needed. Plus I'm sure others will have better advice on this topic at hand. Just thought I would get my 2 cents in. I just got off work this a.m. and need to get a little sleep prior to going surfing this A.M. my friend is going to show up @ 9 a.m. ready to charge the water. And straight to bed after a hot shower when I get back. No posting. sleep!
No women in bikini's this early in a.m. just nice waves, seals, dolphins, and probably some territorial punk a-holes thinking they own the beach breaks. On the positive note. Maybe a shark will have one of those a-holes for breakfast.
Check out Calguns.net There's a new posting 12/28 which you might find useful! Some posts list brakes, fake cans, and Flash-hiders you can use to bring the overall length to 30" please read all the pages on the FS at calguns and state laws to get around that wiki post. There are tons of people and gun stores with AR's. in CA, the FS is just "another" carbine.

I opted for a FAL brake which I will be installing later this week I'll post pictures in Jan of the FS with the tri-rail and brake.
Thanks to FN forum theres plenty of info on removing the factory flash hider. Instead of having an "ugly" fake can on top which could dig into the factory barrel. Ouch!!
Check out my pic under noobs first pic on the fs2000 picture thread. You'll see what I mean. The can looks a little weird to me.
As far as the mag releases on my set up. The bottom one is disabled by not having the spring, screw, bolts. And has a spent cartridge wedged in there. It can be easily reconfigured to its original state, with no need to separate the two halves of the gun.
The superior mag release is covered and has a space to release the mag with a "tool". Some one else did that set up for me. However you can do it yourself.
Enjoy your time here in CA. Oh... and if you like the SCAR and plasma T.V's you are going to be out of luck in the state of CA. I Wish I had a SCAR 556 or 762. If I want my wish to come true. Goodbye CA. I'm sure another state would welcome my taxes and business. Many CA laws sure hurt it's own economy, honest hardworking law abiding citizens and, military members from out of state.
Glad you kept the post "brief"?Originally Posted by Creative7

It seems like the ownership of the FS in Kommiefornia would be more trouble than it's worth. The install of "bullet-button" thing is ridiculous!![]()

OK looks like I got a little carried away. "Brief" looks a bit lengthy to me and I wrote the darn thing. Time flys bye when thinking about passionate stuff in life.BTW it was a great day! More than I expected.
It sure would be awesome if the next runner up for Governor of CA was like Superdell from UTAH.
