Question about optics for the FS2000 standard

I've had my FS2000 standard with factory optics for a just a few months now. I've been comparing the standard model with the tactical. The first thing I've noticed is that the standard model does have molded sights on top of the shroud cover for the optic but doesn't have the front and rear iron sights as the tactical, and the picatinny rail seems to be at a different height. I'd like to put optics on my standard's rail which would are best for sighting between 50 and 100 yards. Most of the photos here seem to be shown mounting optics on the tactcal rail. Any comments, suggestions or photos for scopes and mounting systems that work well the the FS200 standard? Thanks for the posts.

See a reply made in this forum by member name spiralseal.

He mounted an acog on a standard and said he fired 2000 round and there wasn't a single mark on the mount indicating that the polymer rail can handle stress from recoil.

If that's the case I would think the polymer rail is rigid enough to mount an optic to the required torq to prevent it from working loos and not create indentations in the rail.

It also sounded like he said the lower rail on the standard makes for a lower and better cheak weld for that optic.

Re: Question about optics for the FS2000 standard

    RenoDude50,
I also have an FS2k/Stnd, and have seen several sighting systems for use on our model on this WebSite. The one I thought I liked was an Acog. However, after waiting several months for an answer on which model, I did my own research and found the Eotech 557.G3FTS (http://www.eotech-inc.com/product.php?id=37&cat=2). I LOVE IT!!! Although Eotech's site show G2FTS, you can find the 557 and G3FTS combo on the web with a search for "557 AR223 G23 FTS".

    Pro's:
    1. The scope already has a riser mount that raises it to a very comfortable level.
    2. The Holographic Weapon Sighting (HWS) system is very durable.
    3. The price was around $825 (MSRP = $1,000).
    4. It fits our FS2k/Stnd perfectly!
    5. BONUS - The scope flips to the side! So, you can use the HWS without removing the scope from the rifle!!

    Con's:
    1. There is no room for co-witness sites.
    2. The scope is only 3x, although it is better than our 1.6x.

Maybe one day, someone will come up with an optic that will fit under the original cowling. Til then, the Eotech 557.G3FT will be my suggestion. And, to the any new readers who are still trying to decide which to buy (FS-2000 Standard vs Tactical), get the Tactical. You will have more options available for sighting accessories.
