I installed an Aimpoint PRO optic on my new FS2000 and Steyr AUG A3. The Aimpoint PRO (which stands for Patrol Rifle Optic) is basically an ML3 with it's great QRP2 rail mount and a 2 MOA dot. Botach Tactical has them for $400.00. You do have to be LE or Security to buy it, but there are a great scope for the money if you have a friend in LE or security.
If they have them in stock, get one. No you don't have to be Mil or LE.Originally Posted by Gunhand

I have an EO Tech on my FS 'cause it came with the gun when I bought it used. Add a 3X and it's the best of both worlds...but there's NO arguing that ACOGs are phenomenal and you can't go wrong with 'em. They're worth the price any day. Aimpoint on the other hand...meh...
What sort of problems have you had with Aimpoints?Originally Posted by Tyler Durden

I ran the L3 stuff on the SCAR's years back and they all took a shit so I switched to the Aipoints and haven't had a problem since.

Interesting note about holo projections:
If you have an astigmatism the reticle can be rendered as a red fuzzy blur (if you're not wearing corrective lenses). I've never had any issue with el-cheapo scopes, but when my Eotech arrived I mounted it up an powered it on. Glancing down at it all I could see was a red blob. At first I thought it may have been damaged during shipping. I put on my glasses and it became clear. After looking on the Internet, I found it's a pretty common issue (I've even read of people discovering that they even HAD an astigmatism by looking thru holo scopes). Seems it's an issue for all holos (Eotech, ACOG, Aimpoint). Google "astigmatism + <insert brand here>"
The center dot on the Eotech is sharp enough for me to acquire a target without my glasses, though. So if I ever had to use the weapon without wearing glasses I could. I always wear eye protection when shooting anyway.
I've also noticed that running my 3x magnifier sharpens the reticle up a bit. I love my Eotech 516, but had I known of the issue I would have looked thru one at a shop beforehand.
Just putting that out there.

Aimpoint has outstanding quality without question, it's just the reticles of the ACOG and EO Tech are far more useful (provided you know how to use them of course). Also, as far as the Micro-T in particular is concerned, the field of view/objective diameter leaves a lot to be desired in a CQB scenario. I've NEVER had an operational issue with EO Techs, and the only shit they ever took on me was battery related, a distinct advantage that the ACOGs have over them...Originally Posted by SgtStrykerUSMC43

I thought you had them take a dump on you.
I run the RDS out front as far as possible. In doing so, it doesn't cause the tunnel vision effect because I see a black ring and a red dot in the center of it. Do this also allows greater peripheral vision.

I'll buy that for a dollar...'sides, that gives you room to add a 3X!Originally Posted by SgtStrykerUSMC43
IMHO I personally like the eotech over the aimpoint. The eotech has a 1 moa dot and a 'window' sight picture versus the 'tube'
I have owned both an aimpoint PRO and an eotech 512.65. I returned my aimpoint PRO and I am trying to sell my 512 for an OPMOD EXPS2-0.
Another advantage that the eotech has is that you have multiple dots sighted in increments of 0-7y (bottom of the 65moa circle), 0-200y (center reticle) and 500y (2nd dot). An aimpoint won't give you that.
what an aimpoint will give you is a bomb proof housing and a 7 year battery life. The buttons on the aimpoint are also more sturdier than the rubber on the eotech (they might dry out and/or crack in extreme conditions).
I don't plan on getting blown up any time soon (and even if my aimpoint survived, but I didn't, why would it matter?) and I can deal with replacing my battery every 8-10 months.
At the end of the day, eotech or aimpoint, coke versus pepsi, toyota versus honda, everybody has their own taste and preferences.
Happy shooting.
