Hi Guys:
I'm looking to upgrade from my cheap Barska to a quality optic under $600. I found two I like and was hoping to get some feedback to help me make a decision.
One is the eotech 512. I have some experience with this sight and like it.
The other one is the Trijicon TriPower 30mm tube. It's $120 more than the eotech but is fiber-optic.
I would appreciate responses from anyone who has experience with either sight. Thanks.
Mike
I have both. The tri-power is nice because with the three modes of power it is always on, and I like the chevron reticle. I use the point of the upsidedown V for prcision and for CQC you just cover your target with it.
I also like my EOtech because IMO it is the best sight for both eyes open shooting. It also has a good multi-use reticle that is very easy to aquire.
If you are on a budget the EOtech is the way to go because you dont have to buy a mount, where the tri-power does require amouting system.
They are both great optics that are not very expensive. I dont think you can go wrong with either one.
Hope this helps! If you have any more questions just holler.![]()
I wasn't aware of the mouting system. Can you elaborate on that? Which one would I need and how much is it? Thanks.
The ARMS mount for my Tripower cost about $100
For what it's worth on EOTech...![]()
I have an X3 scope and looked for a ring mount that EOTech use to sell for it. This year they discontinued the model and I am having a hell of a time getting this part. I called them and they told me that they do not carry the part anymore, they gave me a vendor that might carry it and they told me SOL.
When chosing and spending in the hundreds look into this for down the road![]()
Ive got the same one on mine. Add a riser and its about $125.Originally Posted by tqtran
FWIW, I went the eotech route as well and upgrade my standard 1.6x w/ shroud to an Eotech 557.AR223 + G23 combo (3x Magnifier) which came with the quick release ARMS FTS mount. I haven't a single complaint and as a matter of fact liked the Eotech so much I bought another one (XPS2-2) for my AR. Super clean optics resolution, and the ability to easily pull my 3X magnifier and use between both rifles without having to re-zero each time is awesome as well. IE: eotech on each for my zero'd reticle and then a quick pull of a lever and magnification when and where I need it.
Would love to eventually go the trijicon route one day but for now the eotech suits my needs especially so when I couple it with the magnifier.

Has anyone here tried out an ACOG? Had one on my M16 so I'd like to put one on my FS2000.

I am considering an ACOG as well although on hold for a bit due to funds. I have exchanged some messages with one owner who has one on his and he has had good remarks about it. He has the one with the Doc up top which is what I was looking at. I have a feeling I am just ping to put better sights on mine and do something better later this year. Probably will get front and rear MBUS for it unless I read some comments about some other sights on them that people like.
