Anyone try a Magpul AFG on a FS2000? Is it possible to use your thumb through the hole in the AFG like a pistol type grip? Thanks... have my rail attached and need a grip.![]()
So I don't use the AFG on my FS2000 instead a troy configured stubby with bipod behind it. I do have the AFG on a M&P 15-22 "tacticool fun plinker"and can say with certainty that unless you have the hands of the guy from the Burger King commercials or child sized hands there is no way to get your thumb in there.
Things to consider, AFG will need slight dremeling to be made to fit and will probably feel very similar to the stock foregrip only then buying you rail space on the left and right, at which your better off just doing the light mod yourself on the stockgrip and saving 200 bucks. ( cost of trirail and AFG). Hope this helps sir. The AFG is solid and I like it on my S&W but not sure about it on the FS2000, check the pics section, someone did it but then pulled it for another grip instead.
Funny that you answered this today... we had a gun show in town and I picked up a five position USG grip... It was only $20 and feels decent. We'll see how she shoots with it. Thanks for the info...thought it looked too small. Saw a black SCAR...now I need one of those!
I'd like to see what it looks like on a F2K

That grip is intended for a mid to full length AR system, I cant imagine how youd gain any type of ergonomic advantage by positioning it so close to the strong hand grip of the FS2000. That thing has its place, but it doesnt much help on a gun of this type. Just my 2 cents
The weak hand pulls the gun in at a more natural angle in unison with the strong hand. Just like with punching-out a pistol. The difference and advantage being the FS2K has 3 points of contact with the shooter as opposed to only two with the pistol.Originally Posted by lloydkristmas
That's why you'll see a lot of shooters grip their rifles with the weak hand positioned on the lower, just forward of the magazine well.

From the looks of that thing, and the fact that I don't have anything else mounted on my tri-rail except a vertical grip (I use a Grip Pod,) if I was going to go that route I might as well just put the stock forend back on. Looks like my hands would sit in the same position. Might not look so tacticool though, but I would save some $$.

I just finished putting one on my FS2000, I think that it is much better than the stock forend for a number of reasons.
1. You have a positive stop with forward and backward pressure.
2. It fits your hand more naturally than the stock did.
Part of the reason I ordered the tri rail was because I didn't care for the stock forend ... but holding the tri rail didn't seem like much of an improvement and I wasn't liking the "feel" of all the grips that I had.
It does require modification to get it to fit the FS2000 .. mine was not pretty but I just used the ole jig saw and sanded the edges. I have some pic's (I didn't remove any of the length and it sits a good 1/2 past the end of the rail .. so I just modded the finger stop which I didn't like to fit on the end to "dress" it up). Now I just have to figure out my duracoat color
