Ok - so the gun is awesome. We played around with it at the range using the iron sights, which are surprisingly good - I then mounted my XPS-2 on it, and it was pure awesome!
I'd need a bit of help from you guys though. First, to properly sight-in my XPS-2, would you recommend a laser boresight? If so, would any standard .223 kit fit?
I also would like an optional 3-4x magnification kit installed. Something I can flip to the side if I need the bigger field of view that comes with no magnification. I know LaRue and AimPoint make several items that _seem_ right but I wonder how (if at all) will they play with my XPS-2? Is there a particular magnifier and mount that you would recommend? Does the mount have to be made specifically for the targeting kit (XPS-2) or does it not matter if they don't line up super perfectly?
Finally, I was considering mounting the tri-rail on the underside (possibly for a Viridan C5XL or something similar - I have it on a .357 revolver and it's great) but I'm concerned about comfort. The current underbarrel grip is great; how do you guys hold the weapon if you replace it with a rail?
Thanks in advance!

Boresight... yeah, that will get you started, any .223 will get you "close", at least on the paper.
Me, I just mounted the XPS2, took the gun to the range, setup a stand at 25 yards and shot and adjusted to sight it in "old school". All the boresight will do is save you the first few rounds of that method... as long as it's close enough to hit the paper... Mine was about a foot low out of the box.
Magnifiers... there will be plenty of opinions. I didn't want to spring for the $500 EOTech, but wanted something of reasonable quality.
Bought the Burris 3x AR-Tripler - nice quality unit, good windage and elevation adjustments make it tolerant of a variety of different mounts.
The XPS2 mounts with the center about 1.5" above the rail. You need a flip-mount for the magnifier that matches that height (or is close).
The LaRue is typically regarded as the best... but is pricey.
I'm currently using one of these:
Flip-to-Side Mount red dot Magnifier Longhorn Tactical
With all the adjustments tightened down, it's fairly stable and works well, though it is a little tall (they say it's a bit over 1.6")- so it lines up pretty close to the top of the EOTech window, and you can kinda see the top edge of the EOTech through it (though it's out of focus and not really distracting to me, others may find it objectionable). Because of the way the EOTech sight works, perfect alignment isn't necessary... as long as the magnifier is looking through the window and pointed in the right direction, it works.
Most folks who opt for the tri rail mount a vertical fore grip. I personally didn't like the weight of the tri-rail (it adds another 12 oz to the front of the gun, which will already be getting heavy with the EOTech and magnifier) but some folks like it.
Here's my alternative approach:
My FS2000 custom foregrip
Note the last photo - Magpul rail mounted to vent, for our light or laser or whatever. You can also get offset mounts that would mount on the top rail in front of the EOTech on the top rail and mount a laser or light to the side.

Check out primaryarms. They make their own aimpoint like red dots and magnifiers. I have one of their new multi-recticle red dots and its pretty amazing for the price. Their magnifiers start at $78 for the 3x and go from there and work with common sights. All their sights have excellent reviews everywhere and like I said, I can personally vouch for how nice they are.
I love the hand guard on it and I, personally wouldn't put the tri-rail. If you want a light or laser there are mods I've seen online where people remove the circular piece on the front of the hand guard and put lights etc. in there.
Thanks for the responses guys.
Good point re. the boresight. My XPS-2 was only a few inches off at 60 feet so I probably won't need to invest in one of these. As for the scope, given that I already have the Eotech XPS-2, I'll probably go with their G23.FTS unless somebody wants to talk me out of it.
Great job on that custom foregrip! I wish I had the time (and the tools and abilities) to make a mod like this. I'm not too concerned with the weight of the tri-rail (on the plus side it will help with recoil) so what do you guys think about this?

Looks like a nice, unobtrusive way to add a grip to the lower rail and retain some of the original feel of the rifle.
Some folks have tried that grip. You may like it. The problem I see with it is that it's designed to install on the bottom of an AR-style rifle, where you can literally wrap your thumb around the top of the barrel shroud to grip it:
You won't be able to do that on an FS2000:

Do you have a way to secure the rifle while adjusting the scope? If so here is how you do it cheap.
Fire a shot at the bullseye from the reticle. Make sure the gun is secure and adjust the reticle to the bullet hole. If you did not move the gun the next shot will be in the bullseye.

A pure democracy operates by direct majority vote of the people. When an issue is to be decided, the entire population votes on it; the majority wins and rules. A republic differs in that the general population elects representatives who then pass laws to govern the nation.
look at the picture with eotech on that AR,
OnTarget Holographic Sight 4x Magnifier with Flip-To-Side Mount. Flip-To-Side, Red Dot Sight Accessories from Longhorn Tactical
as you can see, the magnifier is not 100% aligned with abs co-witness sights. It will be a problem with your XPS-2 as well. I think this mount is for eotech sights with 7mm raised base.

It's definitely a *little* tall... though I don't think it's a full 7mm tall. Maybe it is.
While the magnifier won't co-witness with the BUIS, it works fine with my XPS2. It's aligned about 3/4 of the way up the XPS2 window. Which, due to how the holosight works, still is "aligned" with the reticle just fine. If I'm looking for it, I can "see" the out-of-focus top edge of the XPS2 window just above the reticle, but because it's so out of focus, it's almost not visible and not very distracting.
Is it the perfect mount? Nope. But it works and the price was decent. Because the Burris magnifier has good elevation/windage adjustments, you don't need the adjustments built into the mount, and it works best if the elevation spring is removed and the screws are tightened down.
