The conversion is not that much of a nightmare. If you have at least a basic level of competence you can do it. I can offer whatever guidance you might need. But, yes, Sgt's upper would be the optimal buy.

To be honest, though, if you listed your standard for a priced-to-sell number, say 1250, 1300, you could probably sell it off very easily, and then add 100-200 bucks and buy one of these overrun tacticals. That is honestly the most financially thrifty way of doing it.

I've always thought your conversion came out damn good looking. The problem is, with my carpal tunnel, my hand would go numb after about 30 seconds with the dremel. Hell, I have to take breaks disassembling a 1911. I'll just stick with risers. They do the job-just not as well a a solid rail.
