Out of boredom as I wait for my ammo to arrive I decided to undertake the trigger rod polishing as suggested by SgtStrykerUSMC43. I was quite happy with the trigger on the FS2000, but figured I might as well try to improve it. Plus, I wanted the experience in disassembling the stock as described in this thread.
The Sarge's suggestion to smooth the trigger pull is to polish the trigger rod using 3M Scotch-Bright pads, followed by Flitz polish, and finishing with a coating of lithium grease. He also coats the hammer pack with Rem-Oil (contains PTFE). I used a fine grit pad followed by Flitz applied with a cotton cloth. I also polished the plastic to plastic contact surfaces between the trigger and the stock. I finished by coating all the trigger and trigger rod contact surfaces with lithium grease and gave the hammer pack a light coat of gun oil. I also gave the trigger rod itself a liberal application of lithium grease.
Below is a photo of the right stock half and a half polished trigger rod. I kept track of the screws by sticking them in the foam work surface in the same layout as they are in the stock.
And here is close up of a half polished trigger rod to give you a feel of the before and after polishing.
The resulting trigger feel after polishing is smoother with a clear second stage. I wouldn't say it is any lighter, but the second stage is very nice to my untrained fingers. Next, I will have an AR enthusiast friend that has had a little trigger time on it pre-polish give me his opinion on the post-polish feel.
A word of caution: the stock take down button's interlock lever and spring are tricky little buggers to reassembly.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to do this... soon. But not today.
Excellent work - thanks for the photos - that definitely helps substantiate why it makes a difference.

Quick question - did you happen to bump into two silver washers??
I have to admit the second stage is not as distinct when live firing in the cold with gloves on. It is there, but not as obvious as when at home dry firing. Maybe that is to be expected.
I"ll take the fact that none of the curious range patrons that took some shots with it commented on the trigger. Last time out (pre-polish) there were several that commented the trigger was coarse. This time no such comments.
On another note, the FS2000 sure is a social butterfly. I let one guy know that this was my first rifle, and before you knew it I had people were bringing there guns over to my lane to trade shots. The highlights of what I got my hands on are a HK USC, a fantastic firing M&P15, SW1911, and a Kel-Tek SUB 2000.
Life is good,
Have you ever fired the PS90? I still prefer the FS2K, but the PS90 has a noticeably better trigger (plus it is just a fun, sort of micro-version of the FS2K). Then again, I really don't think the triggers are near as much an issue as bullpup-haters decry.
I held and almost bought a PS90, but I've never fired one. My local gun shop always has several on display and all the guys there are huge PS90 enthusiast. They were really trying to steer me away from the FS2000.
I'm glad I went with the FS2000. It just seems to fit me, and I really wanted a 5.56/223 setup.
I have no issues with the 2K trigger. I do have a friend that obsesses over trigger pull, but after shooting the FS2000 he felt its trigger was a fair trade off for the utility of the bullpup. But, that is in real life. Online, haters gotta hate.
Nice job!!!
