Back to black... this was duracoat as well as the duracoat really, really adheres and I was not able to remove it without damaging the original finish.
I took more time and care with the paint job this time, and had the paint put into a rattle can by a local paint shop. Much better results. Here is the final product:

I've been looking to get up on a color that is reminiscent of the FdE of the Tactical FNP and dupe that to this and make them unified.
Only @ matter of time!
Well, I had time off this weekend, so of course new project. Some areas of the paint were bothering me, so I Kleanstripped the whole thing, then sanded off whatever remained. I was able to remove all of the paint except for perhaps a few spots here and there that I didn't bother with because they are covered (like the area at the end of the receiver under the buttstock cap).
Keep in mind that I only stripped the receiver, not any of the upper components. That is still paint. This took all weekend but I can't believe it worked this well. This is a complete undoing of the duracoat.
Just want to note that the Kleanstrip definitely killed the finish of the receiver once the paint was gone. Of course the sanding didn't help either. The receiver came out a scratchy, dirty looking dark gray. I fixed this with a tiny bit of Kiwi shoe polish (of all things) and a lot of buffing. I bought a buffing kit for my drill and went to town. In the end I probably didn't even need the Kiwi - the stock color comes back after a good solid buffing.
Without further ado - the complete reversal of EVERYTHING I have done throughout this thread - we have now come full circle
If nothing else, this all serves as evidence that with enough work, it can be done, redone, and undone!![]()
Now that wasn't such a chore, was it?
Easy Peasy.

Damn I wish you had a video of this!
Only @ matter of time!
Which portion did you want to see a video of? I could easily walk you through any of the processes. A video would probably have been very boring since both painting and stripping are basically games of patience (lots of waiting).
If you plan to paint or strip just let me know and I can probably shoot you some tips and advice.
