New FS2000 in a Storm Case

Hello. I received my FS2000 a few weeks ago:

I bought a Hardigg Storm IM3100 from Hoover 1 (thanks man. ) for storage and transport. It's manageable for me for everyday use, and I think the "presentation factor" of undoing the latches and opening it up is great.

I cut the foam with a Crafters Hot Knife (the 69 dollar one,) and this is how it turned out:

There are a few things I haven't made cuts for yet (like dessicant packs and the cleaning kit) but this is the basic layout. I also intended to leave space behind the Eotech open for a magnifier, and under the foregrip for future upgrades (like a tri-rail and vertical grip.)

I originally intended the FS2K to face the other direction, but I started using the Hot Knife to cut out the magazine slots without really testing it out first. So the side I drew the template on and was cutting into (which was supposed to be the bottom) turned out better than the other side which was supposed to be the front (which turned out having some ragged spots and slanted cuts from not holding the knife straight as it glided through the foam.)

Once I got the hang of it the Hot Knife was really easy to use, though I needed to make sure the smoke from the burning foam wasn't blowing into my face (not sure how many years my lifespan was reduced learning that lesson .)

I may end up buying replacement foam and trying again now that I know what i'm doing, but I think this looks good for now. In any case, here's a pic of a happy new FS2000 owner:

And for the record, I acknowledge my finger should have been off the trigger when taking that pic.

    The case turned out nice.

It looks like somebody needs to do a little Spring cleaning, and I think a nice close shave is in order!

The gun was empty, so I don't see what the big deal is with the finger issue. Some goof gave me a bad time once, over holding my FAL in the same way. The mag was out, muzzle was down, the bolt was locked back, and I had a chamber flag in it. He saw the flag (he approached from my right) and still had to say something. I told him he wasn't invited to our area and politely asked him to go back to his area, and he did without uttering a single word.

You plan on doing Magpul floorplates on all the mags, or no?

Congratulations on the FS2K. BTW, check your piston. I just got a black one like yours and the chrome is chipped on it.

Nicely done! Now you just got to load the mags .... makes it bit heavier. And you have the 'fragile electronic equipment' stickers on it?

I haven't put any of the stickers Hoover 1 included with the case yet, but I will, and will post pics when I do.

Spring cleaning - next day off.

Clean Shave - check (down to a mustache.)

Floorplates for the other mags - yes, but I will be using black Magpul L-Floorplates instead of the Rangers with the loops.

Piston - haven't seen any chipping as of yet, but will keep an eye out for it.

    Thanks for the props.

    tialloydragon,

Really nice job on cutting the foam!!

Now you just need to put the stickers on it.

    Thanks,

Looks good man. How do you like the hardigg case? I've got two on the way, but they are for handguns. I just built a Hotwire table for precision cutting my foam. It looks like the foam is being compressed around the front site. Did you cut out that area? I've found it best to give the weapon and sight a little room on the cut, and allow the lid foam to keep it secure.

Congrats on FS2K and the Case.

thanks for the compliments. I will be adding the stickers, just not quit yet.

    Dirtdart:
I really like the case. I can't think of a more appropriate case for my FS2000 than the Storm IM3100.

The foam is pushed down a little around the front sight, however it is cut out to fit right around the front sight, and just needs to be pushed up after inserting the rifle into the foam. I didn't do that when I took the picture, but have been doing it since.

    Smaller case fs2000 disassembled

Will using a smaller case with the fs2000 disassembled be a bad idea?
