    Removing firing pin spring?

I have read on some other forums that the later firing pin has problems setting off milsur ammo, due to the spring due to the harder primers? Well I took the gun out shooting today, and sure enough it kept going click. I kept thinking it wasn't picking up the rounds out of the mag until I noticed it was dumping live rounds out the chute and they had large primer dimples on them. Heard removing the spring on the pin, solves the issue, is this the case? Also this ammo Im using is good mil surplus Ive put around 3k rounds through my scar without a single problem!

I understand the spring is slam fire protection but 1 out of 10 rounds wouldn't go off with it attached.

Would you PM or tell me what the fix is? And will it make any difference if I just take the spring off? I would rather not send off my new rifle lol.

I don't know exactly what FN does, but it requires service in-house. A couple of other members had this issue and FN took care of it free of charge. FN pays the shipping both ways.

I was having this problem too and sent if off. They did indeed pay the shipping in both directions. One way or another it took about 10 weeks* for me to actually get something back.

I was trying to figure out what they were going to do so I put a small mark on all the parts I could. I figured I'd get the FS2000 back with a couple parts without a mark which would allow me to tell what was replaced. Unfortunately for my intentions but fortunately for my impending sale they sent me back a whole new FS2000 with a new cleaning kit, lock, and a new magazine. Perhaps they noticed the marks and decided to send a replacement instead of allowing someone from outside the company to find out what was done.

I would have preferred a faster turn around, but they sent me a new one so I'm happy.

    * It was delivered 10/30/09 and I received my replacement 01/12/10.

Just got an email back from bob indicating my serial range wasnt affected, by the light strike issues. Any other ideas what might be causing this. Shoot I went and got some commercial ammo and it started doing it even worse.

It could be that the headspace is too long. Whatever it is, call Bob and explain to him that your weapon is experiencing FTF with commercial ammunition also.

Bob was nice enough to send me a pin and a pack, but still having same problems, I am tempted to try the spring removal. Hate to send my gun in!

If you venture down that road, you'll be travelling at your own risk. To be safe, rather than sorry, or hurt, just have FN take a look at it.

I'm sure nobody wants to read a post, that you experienced a pierced primer and the toilet cover blew off, permanently blinding you in one eye.

    Be safe.
