    Joining the FS2000 club!

I've got a tactical version in OD green coming! Woohoo!

FNH has a hold on me. I just love FN designs. I thought I was going to get the PS90 next, but then suddenly, I got a hankering for the FS2000. So, the PS90 got bumped temporarily.

    So far, I have a SCAR-16S and a Five-seveN pistol. FN2000 coming soon.

Still want a PS90. Would also like an SLP shotgun and maybe a bolt action rifle, too. Reading forums like this is very very bad!

    I'm a sick, sick puppy!

Also eyeballing the FNP-45 Tactical. Don't have a .45-cal, yet. I think this should work! I just love all the FNH guns. They have a certain something that all the others lack, IMO.

I'm also a Glock guy. I love "form follows function" simplicity. That's where Glocks are great. But, FNH guns just speak to me (and say "buy me!").

That looks amazing and I usually don't like green or tan guns. I hope I can get one by this time next year.

    Range Report!

OK... range report! Got to shoot it for the first time today. Indoor range - 25 yards max. Not the best place for a rifle, but outdoor rifle ranges are very few and far between around here.

I don't have optics for it, yet. So, I used the back-up sights, which basically suuuuuuuuuuck. Also, the cheek-weld required to line up with the sights caused my ear-muffs to bump into the stock.

Additionally, it was HOTTER THAN HELL inside the range today. I mean like a sauna! Really... like a sauna. Brutally hot. So, there was sweat dripping into my eyes. The stock was dripping with my sweat running on to it, too. Did I mention it was really hot? So, it was slip and slide with the cheek-weld and my ear muffs getting pushed aside by the stock (I did have ear plugs underneath the ear muffs, thankfully).

So, while it was not the best environment for my inaugural firing of the FS2000... it was still WAY COOL. And, I did keep all the rounds in the black, on the paper.

This is my first time owning or ever firing any kind of bullpup rifle. It is quite different than a traditional rifle, and also very different than an AR-style or even my SCAR-16S. Very, very different.

I'm not an expert gun reviewer, so you'll have to pardon my amateurish descriptions. And, I may be stating the obvious to many of you.

It was a bit strange to have the rifle up so close to my face. Good thing the empty shells eject out the front of the stock (which is a cool and unique feature). I guess I would say that it's just a very different posture with a bullpup rifle compared to more traditional rifles. OK... call me "MOTO" (master of the obvious)!

Muzzle rise is nearly non-existent with the FS2000. It is VERY easy to stay on target. Recoil is also quite mild. I believe having the barrel lining up directly with your shoulder makes a difference there.

I think my shooting posture - mainly referring to my head / cheek position - will be more comfortable and natural when I get a proper optic on it. You really have to crank your neck over to get lined up with the puny back-up sights. But, I had to go shoot it today... wasn't going to wait for an optic. (Gotta pace myself spending $$$. But, I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the rifle.)

As for malfunctions... nothing much to report other than it seemed to have trouble stripping off the top round when I loaded the mags to full capacity (30).

I only ran 3 magazines through it. It was just so damned hot in there. Sweat kept running into my eyes, making it difficult to get a decent sight picture. But, I was satisfied with my decision to buy the rifle. And, I look forward to shooting it more (with a good optic).

One silly thing that happened: When I was setting up at the shooting bench / stall, I first took out the rifle, pulled the bolt back, and locked it open. I then laid the rifle down on the bench (with the bolt side facing down). Then I was putting my box of ammo on the bench along with my magazines. In doing so, I needed to move the rifle over, so I just scooted it across the bench. Moving it over released the bolt (rubbing on the bench surface) and the rifle nearly launched itself off the bench! Luckily, my cat-like reflexes enabled me to catch it, avoiding some embarrassment. OK... lesson learned... lay the rifle down on the OTHER side.

OK... that's it for my amateur review. I'll post another after I get an optic for it. Hope it was worth the read!

Updating an old thread. Last Sunday, I had a chance to go to an awesome outdoor range near Orlando. I met my good friend there and brought along most of my FN "toys": SCAR-16S, FNP-45T, and FS2000.

As, I've been spending my money on guns, I've not had much left over for optics.... yet. But, based on the first time I fired my FS2000, I don't have to explain how badly the back-up iron sites suck. So, I grabbed my cheap Primary Arms M3 clone off my S&W M&P 15-22 and put it on the FS2000. Since I bought the FS2000, I had also placed a Judo-chop charging handle and a Neutrigger.

This range trip would be only the 2nd time I've fired the FS2000. I was glad to have the judo-chop handle and not have to worry about shattering the OEM piece. And, I will say the Neutrigger was an improvement, too.

But, adding an optic... even a cheap one... made a WORLD of difference in the experience. My head position was much more comfortable and natural. And, by pure luck, the red-dot scope was dead on for soda cans at 25 yards on the plinking range. Those cans were dancing and spewing all over the place!

My friend had never held or fired an FS2000. I also let a couple of other shooters at the range fire it. One of the really neat things about FNH guns is they get a lot of attention and questions. It's like showing up at your high school reunion in a Ferrari. And, it's fun to see the inevitable GRIN that comes over the faces of everyone who fires an FN gun. Lots of "Buck Rogers" comments, too.

Conclusion: The FS2000 is just one cool rifle. It's so different. It's fun and easy to shoot, too.

Just put together a very quick FS2000 video.

Thanks for the update and the video.

I also love the social aspect of bringing the FS2000 to the range.

Can you give a more detailed impression of the neu-trigger?

Given that I've only had two range sessions total with my FS2000... one with the original trigger and one with the Neutrigger, I'm a bit challenged to give a detailed and qualified review. And, I don't really fancy myself as a gun "expert" or expert reviewer. Although I do enjoy TRYING!

I CAN say that the OEM trigger was a bit stiff / rough. Not smooth like most other triggers. Almost a bit like a toy, for lack of a better description.

I can also say that the Neutrigger smooths it out quite a bit. Ultimately, the neutrigger is simply a slick piece of sheet metal that changes the plastic-on-plastic bearing surface to a plastic-on-more-slippery-metal surface. It's an inexpensive and easy mod that improves the overall shooting experience. I highly recommend it.
