Ok so I've had my fantasy FN FS2000 for a close to three months now and already have a broken part
Gun background: I purchased this CA Legal version at Turners Outdoorsman a few months ago. By CA Legal I mean it has a plastic mag release cover. Not sure who did that mod. I did register my FS with FN. Not sure if that's worth anything so I thought I would mention it.
I did practice field stripping it a few times before I took it out to the range. I have taken it out shooting exactly twice. First time no problems, second time heard a rattle in the stock upon inspecting found the little slide part loose inside. I have probably put < 80 rounds through it.
I have a few questions hopefully one of you guru's can answer :P
1. Could I have caused this? If so how?
1.a. Might it be covered under warranty through FN?
2. What is it exactly? My best guess is a slide / guide for the trigger group.
3. Is it fixable?
4. Is it important or necessary for solid operation/a DIY project? I'm pretty handy and would rather NOT have to send it to FN if possible. If I need any parts recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
I'm posting some pictures of the slide and the inside of my stock so you can see where it used to be.
I left the range thinking everything was fine, meaning it did not fail to operate for me. I just don't know if it is dangerous to operate it in its current state. It seems to cycle through just fine. I was shooting american eagle (federal) brand ammo from the stock mag.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!! Please and thank you!!

Next to the broken slide there is a crude drawing of a plastic part 2"x1"x0.25" I noticed after first field stripping it. I was mucking with a lot of packages that day so I could have been packing material from something but I thought I would ask.. was this to my FS2000?? It seemed flimsy & got thrown out w/the packing material.

Bolt carrier guide rail = Warranty repair only.
The bolt carrier buffer is also broken.
(The broken black rubber part)
Both of these are covered under warranty.

Wait what broken black rubber part? Was the part I drew really to my FS2000?Originally Posted by SgtStrykerUSMC43
Yea! Its the part the back of the bolt carrier bounces off of when it hits the back of the rifle.

Of course I am compensating for something.... If I could kill something at 300 meters with my c*ck I would not need a gun!
In the humble words of homer... "Doh!" where can I buy another?Originally Posted by cetane

I'm sorry that this happened to your rifle.
My rifle, which I got second hand, was missing it's mag well gasket. I didn't know the FS2000 had a magwell gasket until after I found this website (which is a great source of all FS2000 info). I got it for a good price and probably would have bought it even knowing that it was missing the gasket, but I wish it would have known it was missing before I bought it.
Now, I know that there is a bolt carrier buffer in the rifle!!
I can't really tell where that piece came off inside your rifle along the bolt carrier guide rail.
Thanks,
KPSquared
HA! I had no idea that this piece was in the rifle either. Now i know if a strange shaped piece of plastic topples out that it belonged there.
Sorry about your FS2K though, I've had to send mine off for repair so i know your pain. The good news is that FN's repair service and warranty is really good and easy to use. you'll be up and running in no time.
The buffer is made from a hard rubber compound.![]()

It's too bad that the gun had to be modified for Kali, then you would be all set with FN warranty repair.![]()
