A Day At The Range - It was a Zoo!

Headed out to the range to do my safety class and see how my bore sight zero job turned out. There must have been 70 people doing the class to get their range cards.

The FS2000 was impressive. Low recoil with fast target engagement. Using an EOTech at 100 meters, the shot groups were consistently within a 4 inch circle that was a little low and to the left. Pretty impressive with only a 20 meter bore sight setup. I didn't have a spotter scope so I had to wait until the range went cold to check the target and adjust. Note to self, get a spotter scope.

My AK with the red dot was less impressive. I was all over the target, some high, some low, but all were mostly inline with the center. Not sure if I was flinching, jerking, or what. Definitely need a better scope on that one. Perhaps a the 3x Burris 332 that I originally wanted on it.

Ran through about 100 rounds before the range closed. Overall, I had a fun day.

P.S. Both the FS2k and the AK are damn'ed loud when they fire. The AK was throwing fireballs from time to time. So much for the flash suppressor. LOL

Busy ranges seem to be popular today, at least down south where it's not in the teens

Good to hear it ran well for you and you enjoyed it!

Around here you have to wait hours to get a lane. It's crazy with all people shooting their new Christmas gifts.

Boy, I guess I'm lucky to live around a lot of public land. I never have to wait to shoot and typically it's only me or me and my friends.

LOL! You must have been at the Wake Co. public range. You need to join SSI. The guys at Young Guns in Apex can hook you up.

You are a lot closer to the muzzle with a bullpup.

Were you using American brand of ammo in the AK or a foreign brand? All most all American brand ammo uses a .308 dia bullet were foreign made AKs need a dia of .311..This why AKs shoot better with surplus or Chinese ammo and may explain the accuracy problem.

Yep, the time after the weekend orientation classes at WCFETC is nuts.
    Weeknights are usually better.

Glad you had fun. Yep, spotting scope. Cheap rental units available at the range (unless they've rented them all). But I'm going to buy one soon.

As for "loud" - it's what you're used to. When I was there Saturday, there was a guy with a SBR AR immediately to our right, then a guy with an old skool AK beside him. The SBR AR was loud, but the AK was like a cannon going off. And the guy at the other end with the Mosin Nagant - geesh. Another cannon.
