Pretty much done with the refinish. Not ready to install the bolt or sling yet, and the SN panel is still covered with tape, but the rest is in place so you can see the results of the paint job. I think it was pretty successful all around:

It turned out very nice.
Although I must admit, I will miss the tan.![]()

Don't worry, chances that I will get bored and decide to do another project are high!
I noticed last time that some of the sheen/luster you see in the picture above actually fades away a bit as the paint settles (over a few weeks) too, which is nice. We will see if that happens with the black, too. I prefer a tiny bit more matte in my black, but I think this will actually get there.
Got it last night! I was out on a trip to Haiti working my rear off, so it had to sit at the FFL for a week, but went and picked it up without TOO many issues last night!
And, as a bonus, you get a look at my custom IKEA rifle rack. (Yes, I modify pretty much everything I own...)
Just want to note that everything went extremely smoothly purchasing the OD FS2K from Tanners via Gunbroker. Great service, good commo, no issues whatsoever, and they shipped it out the same day I paid the bill. Great experience throughout. It looks like they have only 9 of the overrun-priced FS2Ks left, so if you are still holding out for any reason, you'd better hurry up!

Very nice collection of hardware you have there, ARS.![]()
I'm glad you were able to get the OD F2K home safe and sound. -

+1 for Tanners. My ODG shipped the same day payment arrived also.
Aimpoint PRO arrived today. $390 shipped, factory new, to my door. This optic is absolutely unbeatable for the price point.
Final piece is of the puzzle is the sling, which will be here tomorrow. I am trying out a Magpul MS3 - if I don't like it, I will just buy another VTAC adjustable, but I already have three of those so I figured I would give a new idea a try!
As always, the simple yet functional approach - nail the essentials and ignore the rest:

Update: I like the MS3 sling, but the oversized hooks just barely do NOT fit on the stock FS2K front mounts. The options are either to buy an RSA to go with the MS3, or to use another sling. I went out and grabbed an RSA, put it on the top, didn't like how it put the sling connection point RIGHT in the way of the charging handle.
Switched the MS3 with RSA to my AR, put the padded VTAC from my AR on the FS2K, presto. Everything worked out. Weapon complete!
