I took my new military overrun OD tactical FS2000 to the range today for the first time. I spent most the visit letting members of the crowd that formed shoulder and handle the weapon. I gave a run down of the pros and cons and demonstrated how the FS2000 operates and field strips. It was a very enthusiastic group. Some thought it was a little too complex but all loved the ergonomics. Everyone was surprised that the barrel was over 16 inches.
Once I finally got to shooting I was all smiles. The recoil was very slight and the "crappy" factory irons had me ringing an eight inch iron target from 100 yards on the first shot (not too bad for my first rifle). I started with 20 rounds of Winchester .223 64GR and let a couple people shoot it with that load. They remarked that the recoil felt like a pellet gun, the balance was fantastic, and that the trigger wasn't as bad as they expected.
I then moved on to some super cheap 55GR steal cased, lacquer coated, 5.56 Brown Bear. My hopes were to induce a malfunction, so that I would get comfortable clearing the weapon. A competition shooter/employee at my local gun store told me that they couldn't get more than 4 rounds of this particular Brown Bear through their AR without a failure. I left the FS2000 on the normal gas setting and slowly fired 10 rounds without issue. Another shooter told me it would be more likely to fail during rapid fire, so I squeezed off the last ten as fast as I could safely get them down range. Needless to say the rifle had no problems.
I find standard length AR stocks to be too short, and I'm always hunting for that perfect position. This is not the case with the FS2000. The FS2000 feels extremely natural and comes on target fast. Because of its light weight, great balance and low recoil the follow up shots require little effort. Since I haven't trained on any other platform (other than pistols) I have no issues with the manual of arms or the trigger.
This was the most fun I've had shooting. Having the local range guru and AR enthusiasts shoot the FS2000 and look back with a huge smile was gratifying. Shooting the FS2000 was exhilarating.
Thank you FNForum.net members for all the information and support. This was a big part of why I chose the FS2000.
Cheers,
Awesome![]()
The only problem you will have with it is why more dont buy them. Good choice, great rifle.

Of course I am compensating for something.... If I could kill something at 300 meters with my c*ck I would not need a gun!
congrats man, i love mine also. awesome rifles.

If at first you don't secede; try, try again!
Now I understand your statement.
I also understand why people are hesitant to buy the FS2000. It is a good chunk of change and gun owners tend to be fairly conservative. The people I spoke to, just think it is too new and unproven.
I feel it is well designed for its intended roll, and it's current record is enough proof for me. Plus it is incredibly fun to shoot.
I'm not sure about others but all my FN products function flawlessly and I would not hesitate to grab one in a stressful situation. Sounds like these guys or gals are going to sit on the sideline for 50 years till products are proven.
With that mentality I bet they are driving some older vehicles because the new ones haven't proven themselves..............Classic. I love when people make comments like this because it make me laugh at them.

Tell the fence sitters this next time you run across them:
The platform has been around for over a decade and is in service with 10 countries in differing capacity.
It's definitely more reliable than a DI gun.
Easy to maintain.
The platform suppresses - excellent.
Shorter than a AR with the same length barrel.
Makes a complete ass out of any other similar design available in the U.S.
...and last but by no means least...
