There is a screw with a hole in it that meters the gas that gets to the regulator. They come in 50um increments so you can adjust the gas to where you're getting enough to cycle but not overdriving the recoiling parts.

That gives me a 'normal' and 'adverse' setting for the gas regulator. When my papers are done for the suppressor I'll retune the gas system.
Before doing a lot of shooting I'd remove your factory screw and use a good hi temp anti-seize so you can remove it later w/o damaging it.
