There is a screw with a hole in it that meters the gas that gets to the regulator. They come in 50um increments so you can adjust the gas to where you're getting enough to cycle but not overdriving the recoiling parts.

This is where I got mine: FNH SCAR 16S Gas Control Screw 1.00 MM: MGW

They don't have "problems" but they do have a couple of noteworthy differences such as a non-chromed bolt carrier that is designed slightly differently. I'm not sure if the serial or other etching on the gun indicates a 9000 series, it would be on the product info sticker on the box. Just find a good deal and buy one, my fs2k is one of my favorites, my ARs don't get nearly as much use since I bought it.

Which has not been a problem with the rifles.

Nothing on the rifle just on the box.

i didn't cut mine, what I did was adjust the gas so that the bolt locked open on the last round using my normal ammo with the gas regulator set to blow off the maximum amount.

That gives me a 'normal' and 'adverse' setting for the gas regulator. When my papers are done for the suppressor I'll retune the gas system.

Before doing a lot of shooting I'd remove your factory screw and use a good hi temp anti-seize so you can remove it later w/o damaging it.
