One word..... BORESNAKE.
If you own a boresnake you will never use a cleaning rod and small pads again.
Great for the barrel but it doesn't do anything for the rest of the gunOriginally Posted by ick

Everytime I use a Boresnake, I still have to break out the patches to clean the rest of the gun that the Boresnake doesn't clean.
Which is why I don't use a Boresnake anymore and now use an Otis kit.
I'd rather throw away some used patches than have to deal with a gunked up Boresnake.
Huh?
I clean the rifle as normal including chamber, bolt, etc. When it comes to the barrel, nothing beats a boresnake. I have probably wasted HOURS puting those stinking brushes on my cleaning rod and screwing with those little stupid pads down the barrel to get it clean... no thanks. Two pulls down the barrel and it is completely clean of fowling, including the rifling.
But yeah, the rest of the rifle requires standard cleaning.
Holy PITA. An AR, AK or SCAR is so much easier.
I will attempt this soon, because my F2K is dirty. Thanks for the helpful thread.
The first time cleaning it, it was hard, but take it apart a few times and it is a really easy gun to break down, just needed the special punch to get the gas piston out, other than that it was all hand work, with some assistance from the firing pin.Originally Posted by Pachinko Pistola
Great write up too OP.
No really sure why anyone would wear gloves, maybe I am the stupid on, but I never wear gloves while cleaning.Originally Posted by Gibenstein
