    Cool New Hi Power owner

I just joined the club. I have longed to own a Hi Power and got the opportunity when I found this minty one at a LGS. It is a 69C and was told it was unfired (although I think it was). It only came with one mag but no box or papers. No problem; I bought it to shoot it. I put 150 tightly grouped and perfectly cycled rounds down the range and now we are good friends. It still has the mag disconnect. I might be tempted to remove it later.

I kind of like the aftermarket grips, but might change them out. I did find a new rubber Hogue grip for $5 at gun show I attended today. I might use that at the range. I also managed to find some new mags for it. 20170218_181223.jpg

If you don't want those grips send them to me.

    Donny,

Welcome to the forum. NICE pistol you have there!

A good source of magazines is Greg Cote, LLC
The prices and customer service there are excellent. Look for them under Browning MecGar and factory mags.
Buy MecGar made mags. MecGar also makes the OEM FN/Browning and the Pachmayr brand mags. All other Hi Power mags should be considered to be highly suspect.

Good luck and please keep us posted!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome.

Burgs, thanks for the link to those mags and the advice. I fortunately was able to find and buy Browning and Mec-Gar mags from local gun shows. I was alerted to which mags manufacturers are recommended having purchased and read Stephen Camps excellent book on newer Hi Powers. I also have Anthony Vanderlinden book on FN Browning pistols which is more focused on other earlier pistol models but is an excellent source of general, historic Browning pistol information.

But, I do have one rookie question. What is the purpose of the horizontal hole that goes completely through the slide (where the slide is serrated for easier racking)? I haven't figured that out yet.

    Donny,

The pin in there is the pivot point for the sear lever.
