Just added another FN to the collection.
It's a new FN BDA9 that was made some time back in the late 90's. Took it to the range and I love the way it feels. Great balance and accuracy.

Stopped by the gun shop today and they had a Hi Power in. Looked very nice.

I almost bought one of the last of those when they were discontinued in the 90s. My concern was for parts should something break. I kinda wish I would have bought one, though. Oh well...
I also have a black FS2000, PS90, and FNAR. Still need an SLP to round out the bunchOriginally Posted by djv38

I just put a Compact version on layaway last month. I can't wait to get it and go to the range for some fun. I was lucky to find a batch of 5 new mags for it a couple of weeks ago as well. I believe the gun's proper name is FN HP DAC (The C designates Compact), or FN BDA9 Compact. I have seen it referenced in both descriptions.
The one you have is the FN HP-DA (also called the Browning BDA-9 though all of them are made in Herstal) as it has the decocker. I have two of them and they're great guns. There's also the version without a decocker which is called the FH HP-DAO (double action only); you don't need a decocker as after the gun is initially cocked the stub hammer returns to almost down position. It will fire double action on pulling the trigger. I have one of them in the Compact model. Haven't fired that one yet but probably tomorrow.

Update on my last post: I have since acquired another HP-DA Compact, this one with the decocker, because I like them so much. I also learned from a post on another Forum that my original DAO Compact is a rare model, made for less than a year and in small numbers; the HP-DA Compact with the decocker is more common. These are perfect guns for concealed carry, the barrel being 3 7/8 inches long for accuracy and with a 10 round mag, and (along with the still manufactured single action Hi-Power service pistol) FN's last all steel handguns. But though there are a few full size HP-DA/DAO models for sale here and there on the web, I haven't seen any more Compacts for sale in the last few months since I got my second one. It'll be a hard gun to find now- seems nobody's giving them up.
