    Mmmmmmmmagazines

Well I thought it was fun to say that way.... so there.

What mags are you folks using and to what success rate are you having with them?

The HP I recently picked up came with two mags, both marked Browning, count holes, metal floor-plate w/pushbutton, plastic follower.

I ordered four "gen-u-wine Browning factory" mags and what I got were stamped faintly on side "FA", no count holes, metal floor-plate w/push-button hole but no button (instead small tab to rear of plate) with clearly stamped "FA", and what seems to be cast aluminum followers (silver). Have yet to try them so I don't know how well they work.
Anyone have any info on these four?

I like these ones from Browning with the 'spring-tab' and rubber butt-pad but can only find them for $40-50/ea.

    mags P35

all of my P35s seem to be tolerant of any mag I stuff in them, except the POS mags that had the Tape measure spring in them, cant remember the manuf. had a rivet at the top and the spring wound up under the follower, avoid em. edit; I remembered the manuf, ramline..

I got a bunch of Meg Gar 15 rounders and they have been flawless since I stocked up Before the last mag ban. That little spring at the base is there to overcome the drag from the magazine safety so the mag will drop free. Get rid of the plunger and the mags will fly out the bottom, trigger pull will get better also.

I have Argentine Detectives, Israeli Kareens, Browning of several iterations, Hungarian State Stove, Canadian Inglis, and a couple of Mongrels, and they all shoot better than I can anymore. No mag issues with any of em..

The only one I have Ever had an Issue with was a Browning GP, and it was a turd from the first shot to the last. The whole top end was junk, shed parts like a manure spreader. Had to fight with the factory to get it made right, and never did get the gun back to the original configuration. I have not bought a new Browning HP since.
A CZ75 SA turned my head awhile back, but the little Detective is still the go to field carry piece, it doesnt bite either, after I pulled its tooth..

    Thanks for the info.
I will likely pull the mag safety so the spring 'drop-assist' will be a pleasure if I go that route.

Have you ever seen mags with what look like cast aluminum followers?
I got those four from Ammoman and were told they were 100% FN Factory but I'm not buying it.

We had a hunch they were not, but not sure where they were really from. They were ordered from 'Ammoman' and we have always had good stuff from them with no issues at all, so were kind of surprised. Have yet to try them but they look/feel sort of clunky, I'm thinking of sending them back and just order some from FN/Browning directly even at the higher cost.

I'll post a pick of them first.....

    Are they worth a poo?

I would not have an issue paying good $$$ so long as they are 100% reliable and last.

Clean them up and oil em, if they arent dented and fit the gun, test them, you have shot them? or is it just cosmetics that have you all lathered up? The 15rd Mecgars arent that much more than the $18 you paid the Ammoman for surplus 13 rounders, magazines are consumables, better get used to it if you are gonna shoot alot. Use the grubby ones for range duty, drop in the dirt type stuff.
