    FN Hi Power question

First....I know nothing about Hi Powers but what I've read! While cruising my lgs today I saw one in the used case, looks brand new. Left side of the slide shows it produced by FN...spelled out, not the logo. What should I look for to know exactly what this model is and it's potential worth for a purchase? BTW, it had the smoother look somewhat like my 5.7 vs a boxier 1911 look....and if it helps, it was a PW Arms import...

    Tough question.
What kind of rear sight? Fixed or Tanget?
Any serial number prefixes or suffexes?
    Stock addapter slot?
    Lanyard rings? Recessed or open?
    Ring hammer?

Prices range from $1500 to $300 unless it has a special crest on it or German Waffen markings.

Make sure it is a High Power. It should be single action only.

This is the typical Hi Power:

FN HP DA is not the typical Hi Power.

There is a lot of buzz out there that a bunch of Israeli Hi-Powers have been recently imported and that some of them are in excellent condition. If I remember correctly they don't have the magazine safety which means with the magazine out of the weapon you can cock the hammer and pull the trigger and the hammer will drop.

Thanks..... It appears to be the newer FN DAO model.....it was pretty much brand new, looked unfired...and at a price of $425 I knew it wasn't a traditional Hi Power. Just thought it was interesting, but I've been spoiled with SA with my Five-seveN...don't think I'd want a DA only.

Before one gets a DAO model you should first see if you can find some spare magazines for it.

I first saw this model about four months ago at Cabelas and didn't know what it was. Friends on the hand guns and ammunition forum identified it and told that magazines are hard to find.

If that is true, FNH will not service it. Just an FYI

Should have taken one at the store...oh well, I figured out what it was and passed on it being DAO. Might have been a nice gun for the $$ just to have....it was nice looking....maybe another visit....we'll see....
