Over 10 years ago I had a BHP Gen III, sold it and have regretted it ever since. There's a slot next to my 1911 that looks empty so I decided to correct my mistake.
A friend of mine that doesn't shoot had a BHP.. he just keeps it around for home defense. Ended up that he owed me a few bucks so I offered to buy his BHP.
Here's what I know. It was made in 1984 which means it's a Gen II. I thought all Gen IIs had a rib along the top of the slide? I also thought they were a bit more rough on the machine work. This BHP is beautiful and the machine work and blueing is exceptional, as are the wood grips (Also thought the Gen IIs had black grips). Was also a bit surprised to see the target sights. I thought the front sights were part of the slide, but this one looks changable.
So what can the smart people around here tell me about this? The condition is 98% with zero idiot marks or dings. There's barely any sign that the gun has been shot more than a hundred rounds.. It's stunning and fits my hand so nicely.
One side is stamped "Made in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale Herstal" and the other side says "Browning Arms Company Morgan, Utah & Montreal P.Q.
So did I do good? Paid $600
Any info on this model would be helpful.. the gen II info I've found online didn't seem to cover this particular model.
Thanks,

First, it is simple gorgeous. Everyone should have a Hi-Power.
Price seems to be at or slightly below market around my area. But on a Hi-Power it is not always about the deal.
Here is some Mk II info:

I found other pictures of very similar Mark II Hi-Powers. Specifically with the same grips and front sights, serial numbers in the same location.
Sorry, I don't know much about them, but it is fun to study.
My BHP's are 2009 models.
Thanks for the info.
At first I thought the rear sights were aftermaket but I guess they are just very uncommon "B" sights that were only used for a couple of years.
Will have some trigger work done, maybe bob the hammer or more likely get the "no bite" type. Was thinking of Hard Chrome but the blue on this is very nice.
Beautiful piece! I sold one when I was 22....it was the 3rd pistol I had ever owned........still regret it.
It's heading off to Don Williams soon for an extreeme makeover.. gonna be a long 6 months.
NICE! Congrats!
