    Hi Power trigger

Well I think I am now done with all the mods to Roscoe. I have removed the magazine disconnect, replaced the factory thumb safety with a Cylinder and Slide extended thumb safety, and most recently, replaced the original spur hammer with a Cylinder and Slide no bite hammer.

"do all these modifications help the hi power's notoriously lousy trigger?" you ask. Yes, they do.

First off, the trigger is no longer gritty. Now all you have is a short smooth take up, at which point you add about 6 pound of pull (estimate only) and a clean break, no mush at all. The only real problem is the trigger reset, or the lack of one. Basically the trigger has to come all the way out before it resets, there is no point where you feel it click and know it is reset. it's not until you realize that your finger is all the way off the trigger that it must be reset because there is no where else for it to go.

BTW, I put Craig Spegal grips back on it and did a little trick suggested by Stephen Camp.
The grip tape on the front and rear strap help a lot!

I've done the same basic mods to one of my MkIIIs...used Novak parts, though, and added Meprolight night sights. My favorite carry piece.

Yah, the night sites would be a great addition. Oddly enough, I am really fond of the factory sites. I pick up the three horizontal lines pretty well.

I like the factory sights as well, landlubber. Just that all my carry pieces have night sights and I like to stay consistent in that area. Meps are not all that expensive, so it was a no-brainer for me. My other two HPs still wear the original factory sights.

    That commander-style hammer looks sweet!

    Nice shooting, too.

Very nice! Any hammer bite? You can further improve the trigger by polishing any parts that touch each other in that group. My 91 SC has a nice break at 3.5#s. I also went with a 28# hammer spring. I put XS Big Dot tritiums on mine. Perfect, bright as all get out and I shoot better groups than I ever have with it. Carry and night stand gun loaded with Talons.

Between replacing the wrap around grip and changing the hammer, no more biting.
