So to answer the question as to why the military requires a bayonet lug. It comes from lots of experience. Not always the best decisions, but lots of time in combat. So what you got is a rifle developed for as many scenarios as possible. SO the same reason applys why I dont think the US military will adopt a bull pup. When you are in basic, you are trained with hand to hand, that includes using your rifle without rounds as a weapon. So you are deep in shit and you are out of rounds / rifle malfunctions. Now You are getting over run, you fix bayonet and stab them bastards, to try to save your ass. I am not saying that it will work, just thats the theory behind it. YMMV It is the same thing with the required forward assist. It will at least jam that last round into that dirty bore to hopefully give you that last shot. Again worst case scenario.

Of course I am compensating for something.... If I could kill something at 300 meters with my c*ck I would not need a gun!
Yep the ONLY reason for the bayonet lug on the rifle is for DNC. Thats it...Only time I hade a bayonet on my rifle is when we would march in the St. Patty's day parade in Savannah and other events like that..The Big Army will never let it go away

Thanks for the info. As I stated before, I hope FNH picks up the contract. In my opinion the only other rifle out the that even compares is the HK416.
Nice. Good to finally start seeing some info and pictures of the FNAC in use.

TO bad SOCOM turned in the Scar16 and said they will keep the 17 and the DMR version when it's out. Scar16 cant do the job any better than the M4 was what SOCOM said.
pretty much the same thing..... "The Mk-16 does not provide enough of a performance advantage over the M-4 to justify spending USSOCOM’s limited … funds when competing priorities are taken into consideration"wonder if they will release them to the public like Remington is doing with the M24. I like the SCAR and hope they don't cut corners for our boys. Like that would ever happen.
I don't see them releasing them. It would be a hassle to convert them to semi-auto only. The one's currently procured are probably sitting in storage somewhere or the Navy guys grabbed 'em up.
